If I Can't Have Her Nobody Will
by PteGIJane
The horrific murder of Wanetta Fields in 1992, compelled me to campaign for anti-stalker's legislation in Canada. This arduous journey enlightened me of the plight of victims of stalking especially when domestic violence was a precursor. My one- woman speaking engagement grew bigger than life. On August 1st, 1993 our new law coined Criminal Harassment was enacted into law which was a small victory for me and other women. I never embarked on this challenging journey for praise, however the Windsor Women's Incentive Centre honoured me with the Women of the Year award for this achievement which was indeed humbling.
