Losing a lover...

Lonely View

I thought I saw you yesterday,
a shifting shadow in the rain.
I fancied that you called my name;
It must have been the thunder.  
I closed my swollen, tearing eyes
for death I knew had taken love;
and when they opened once again,
no shadow graced my lonely view.
