Only the lonely will know.

The Emptiness Within

I live in a lively city
where no one speaks to me

I live in a bubble
floating adrift away from myself

I live in a box
cornered in my huddled darkness

I live under a stone
weighed down by my heavy woe

I live in a puddle
crying where nobody looks for me

I live in a well
overflowing with my empty ache

I live out my life
inside myself, beside myself

feeling dead, yet I live, unremarked, unloved.
