My First Sonnet

Letting Go

by Boogienights

Write A Sonnet Contest Winner
I captured you on canvas that spring day,
your beauty far surpassed each careful stroke.
I tried so hard but couldn't find a way,
to bring to life emotions you evoke.

I touch your cheek as soft as finest silk,
your breath escapes from lips that taste so sweet.
Not worthy of a person of my ilk,
instead, some princely man that you might meet.

Though losing you will tear my soul apart,
your happiness is all I care about.
These feelings aren't the same within your heart,
though fond of me you are, I have no doubt.

I'll live this way as long as you are near,
to lose you altogether is my fear.
