John McClane is the all-American hero cop played by Bruce Willis in the Die Hard franchise. I must have watched 'Die Hard', but all I remember is BW in a vest running out of a burning building, so I have no idea what any characters are called.
Movies have a lot to answer for in my opinion. Well, all right, maybe not movies, just the inability of folks to tell the difference between a fictional scenario and what the reality would be.

Not on this point, no. I thought the real divisive debate regarding 'Die Hard' was whether it counted as a Christmas film or not.
When it comes to media and murder, there's an interesting theory regarding serial killers, but that's for another thread, which Li am going to write now.

Oh, it's a movie. This is not a war zone. The home owner will not awaken in time. This is 2 WEEKS ago. America, Auburn. For over twenty years I have worked in Prisons. You have no idea the number and level of evil, heartless people walking the street like land-sharks. You have no idea whom or what I talk to everyday, with no soul in their eyes at 17. No idea the list of victims a 15 year old can have. No idea how they laugh at gun laws. Not $20. The average street value of a pistol about $200 -$300 in Chicago. You do not know, what you don't live through. Don't believe TV and activists. Ok, I will show you. Ignore if you wish.

So, America is the only place in the world that has dead-eyed teens that just don't care, poverty, mental illness, people who scoff at laws. We are all living in paradises where everybody is happy, there's no hate, criminals don't exist because they all obey the laws.
Fine. Clearly, the only solution is to arm everybody. That's going to make it SO much better. There will be far fewer deaths, because suddenly all the criminals will care. All the public will be crack shots, and only the guilty will die.

Sorry to be flippant, Lance, but honestly, What solution are you proposing besides the one that really isn't going to actually materially change anything?
If you lived where in the woods where wild bears routinely attacked, would you not arm yourself? Would you think it insane not to carry a gun or bear mace? America is a country of about 350 million people. Very diverse population, different governmental system, and culture. What I am trying to get you to understand, is that the square peg solutions that work in your small mostly homogeneous country, will not fit in the round hole America. Yet, no matter what I say, show, experience, it seems people on the outside swear they know better. PS: Be careful of statistics that fit an ideological view. I suggest you look deeper into that claim about children and gun deaths in America. What you'll find about what they consider a child, and the circumstances will shock you. If you're honest.
