Calling people out for hypocrisy is so yesterday, lancellot. As per one example: Canada's housing shortage right now sits at 3.5 million. The USA's population is eight times that of ours. So if everything were equal vis-a-vis per capita immigration it would be defensible to say that the US would have a housing shortage of 28 million, yes?
Yet according to the latest research from Realtor.com, the US is short 5.24 million homes as of 2023, an increase of 1.4 million from the 2019 gap of 3.84 million. This is due to the imbalance between the number of households formed and the number of new homes built in the past decade.
If America didn't have such a dysfunctional Republican party at the moment the immigration issue could be much improved. But sadly the far right Evangelical Tea Party faction that is ruling the Republicans are not interested in governing. They are salivating for power so they can put you back in your place.
The US was never energy independent despite Trump's boasts. ISIS was never eradicated despite Trump's boasts. Illegal border crossings never eased despite Trump's boasts. Job creation declined at an alarming rate under Trump despite his boasts to the contrary.
The fact is, Trump's best superlative accomplishment was boosting the USA's accumulated national debt by $8 trillion dollars in a single term; a truly unprecedented surge. And this is the party of fiscal responsibility? But if you don't know that these are facts and you choose to believe the absolute fiction coming from the mouths of pathological liars then our work is cut out for us.

That is not virtue signaling Lance, them are the facts. The USA is far, far behind the facts and the myth of American exceptionalism is dying in the process. Greg Abbott is a maroon all the while ensuring his nest is well-feathered. I get it. I get the theme which is, "you are either with us or you are against us." But what does that oh so easy path to unsustainable domination accomplish? Moreover how does it promote free speech and the exchange of ideas? If you must be right then there is no room for compromise, negotiation or coming to an agreement through the difficult deliberations of democracy.
You have taken away everyone's choice but your own. We either agree with you or we are an enemy to be silenced. Still! Deep hypocrisy rears its ugly head again. The Colorado Supreme Court ruled that Donald Trump is ineligible to run for the presidency under Section 3 of the 14th Amendment, also known as the insurrection clause. Yet, what's the first thing Trump does because he doesn't like the ruling? He calls in the feds, the SCOTUS. Which way is it going to be? Are you going to give power to the states or the federal government? You can't have it both ways.
And with all this posturing a workable immigration policy is not developed.
