War
I know everyone has opinions. People tend to pick sides. Many want to support what they perceive as an underdog. It is the David vs. goliath tale, A Cinderella team who wins against great odds, just like most novels and Hollywood movies. Remember, the little guy isn't always the good guy.
Also, war is not a movie, and it is far from simple. It is easy to be anti-war and anti-violence in a peaceful home. But remember how, and who paid the price for the freedom and peace you currently enjoy.
Have an opinion but try to have an informed one if you can.

Interesting statement. I contemplated it for a while before responding. I do agree that it is EASIER to be anti-war in a peaceful home, than say, living in a country like Ukraine that is fighting for its very existence and defending its citizens from countless unspeakable atrocities inflicted on them by the Russian army.
However, being anti-war is anything but easy. Quite the opposite in fact, especially in this country. And yes, war is far from simple and too many people formulate their views of war at least partly based on Hollywood movies that sometimes sanitize the brutal realities of war.
One can be anti-war and still recognize when a country or people have no choice but to take up arms to defend themselves or others. These are not two mutually exclusive impulses. Even in the most justifiable of circumstances war should be an absolute last resort and should still be considered by all to be an abhorrent, if unavoidable inevitability. Very few people will question the necessity of fighting WW II, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't still be utterly horrified at the devastation caused by that war.

It's also important to remember that because someone happens to share cultural heritage with an individual, organisation or government, it does not make them responsible for what those individuals, organisations and governments are doing.
