Fireworks

Ok, so this is a bit more light hearted and shouldn't upset anyone, but I would like to know your thoughts.
My country has a tradition of Bonfire Night on 5th November. It's to commemorate Guy Fawkes failing to blow up the houses of parliament when a Papal plot was rumbled.

In addition to the bonfire, we let off fireworks. In the dim and distant past, you could ONLY buy fireworks for home use in the 2 weeks around bonfire night, and what you got was a small pack of Roman candles, one Catharine Wheel and a single rocket.
Now, you can buy them any time. People use them at birthdays, new year's, Diwali...Bonfire night is now a month of fireworks going off, and they aren't the little fizzers we used to have. It sounds like WW3 out there.

There have been calls to ban the sale of these devices to the public. Organised displays only. This is following the number of firework related injuries, animals who have died in the fields from both the stress of the noise and idiots lobbing the things at them, people having to sedate their pets for a month, the litter they create, etc.

Most of the countries represented on this forum have fireworks for various celebrations. What restrictions do you have, if any, regarding sale of fireworks to the general public?
