All the time, my friend! A couple of years ago I wrote a piece titled, "Bye Bye Miss America Pie." It touched on a very similar theme.

It is in my portfolio if you are interested in checking it out.

No, I never have. I fully understand, that the issue we all face are not uniquely American, no more than they are Russian, white, black, male ,female, Christian, or Muslim. The problems you see, or choose not to see, are Human issues. They exist all around the world, and have since the first humans walked the Earth.

There never were 'Good old days'. Not anywhere in the world. Good, Evil, kindness, corruption exist within the human heart, not just the American heart. If you were under a personal illusion of prosperity, and righteousness anywhere in the land of mankind, then you were not living in reality. No country, government, or leader made by sinful imperfect man exist, and never will.

America is NOT about being a perfect, freedom and equality nation. It is about the PURSUIT of those ideals, while knowing that imperfect humans will never reach 100%, and we'll often stumble and fall repeatedly along the way. For that is what it means to be human.

Great comments by Lancellot. We can only pursue the dream. I recently saw an article about one writer's idea of a perfect society. No private property, everything divided equally, etc. That would not sit well. People always want more. People would stop trying if they can't advance. I'll take our system, despite its imperfections. As you write, human nature isn't perfect. judiverse
