Excellent story. I agreed with the lady about Ricardo. He didn't seem like a compassionate man, attempting to marry a woman while his wife was living, but in your last paragraph, you stated his wife was dead. It confused me.

Thank you. I looked at the last paragraph. I said he should not have asked me to marry him while his wife is still alive. I'm sorry if it confused you. It wasn't meant to. Hugs.

Hello Prettybluebirds a Good day to you, I hope this finds you well. I liked your writing prompt entry, you executed it well. Yes with all those animals I'm sure it would take a real animal lover to put up with all that. Good job.

Thank you. Yep, it takes a certain type of person to live with animals in the house. I have lived with animals since I was a child. We always had a dog that lived in the house and cats at different times. Once, a parakeet named Billy. I loved them all. Hugs

This is a delightful story. Men don't like being alone if they are used to a woman taking care of their needs, so it wouldn't surprise me if the idea of being alone scars them into starting a prospect list, just in case. LOL.

Thank you for reading and commenting. Still, I wasn't too thrilled at being someone's prospect while his wife is still alive. Hugs.

I just can't believe this is a true story!!!! Just the fact that Riccardo was soliciting for a new wife before his present one passed is revolting. And the woman survived!
What an enjoyable read - you have a great sense of humor and I cracked up at your description of Riccardo and the cat interacting. Best regards, Lilly

Thank you. Yep, it's true and Blackie does scare the heck out of the guy. Riccardo got his wings clipped when his wife recovered. Lol I love it. Hugs.

This story, The Prospect, is so funny to imagine actually occurred. What a schmuck that Ricardo. He would be lucky if his wife doesn't start a prospect list of her own. Great story.

Oh, YUK. What a complete turn-off a man like Riccardo would be! (See how much you involved me in your story? LOL)

Thank you for sharing this writing prompt entry with
us. I smiled while reading this. I can see it happening.
"April what are you looking for in a man? What would I have to do to get you to consider marrying me?", Riccardo asked. (you can omit the comma)

From one cat lover to another, thank you for a lovely tale. I think Riccardo is the only one here that should have the 'not for everyone ' tag.
Who needs dating sites when you have pets? They will always let you know if someone is right for you. And they never let you down.
Good luck in the contest

This story made me giggle. With me it's my dog lol. I can relate to the cat woman a lot and don't want to be thought of as a prospect either. Good luck in the contest and thank you for sharing.

Hello Friend,
It's a nice piece of Humor Non-Fiction meeting the required norms, and depicting beautifully an old man's love for an equally old woman as 'a one-way street!'
It has lucid as well as PERFECTLY matching the theme phraseology, and captivating flow throughout from the beginning to the end.
Interesting Indeed!
BEST OF LUCK in the contest.
