I love your phrase, 'hanging diners'. I do believe you, Yvonne and can imagine this scene. Impatient diners waiting for their order LOL
Loved this read, leaves me with a smile. Cheers

Aw, Yvonne, isn't this just too lovely. I can imagine your disbelief in at first. Yes you have indeed spoilt the local bird population. I loved it. All the best, Ulla xx

I'm sure you and I aren't the only ones who feed all the neighborhood birds, but I bet there isn't anyone who enjoys them anymore than we do. Of course, my hummingbirds are gone for the winter, but they gather looking in the front window every day, and now I sit on the porch about two feet away from them and they don't even fly away. LOL. Thanks for sharing.

-Great photo and I loved this fun story.
-You have a very interesting yard; there
usually isn't a dull moment.
-You tell this very well, too, and build
suspense to see what is going to happen next.
-I thought they were just enjoying the view,
but it seems they have a specific message
and found a way to get recruits.
-I like your line about joining the protest!
-I'm surprised squirrels aren't in on it, too!!!
-You ended the story well, too.

Thank you for this wonderful review! I think the squirrels told the birds to take care of the situation. They were certainly there when the feeders were filled.

You are very welcome, and thanks for sharing. The squirrels are a crafty bunch!

I enjoyed reading your story. I think many animals instinctually follow their parents and that becomes an ingrained pattern. You have been feeding the birds every winter so they come to you for food. I would like to have seen all those different types of birds staring you down. I do not see any room for improvement. Have a blessed day.

Thank you so much. I expect them to start knocking on the door any day now. hahahaha

I believe every word of your unusual bird story. I lived in a house that backed up to a wooded area that served as a temporary home to hundreds of migrating birds twice a year. In the morning and late afternoon they were extremely loud, but fascinating to observe. Some of their actions were unbelievable. I enjoyed your vivid descriptions. I could easily see your birds watching you. Thanks for this cute story.

How lucky you were. I enjoy my birds, but I expect them to start knocking on the door any day now. hahahaha

Hello Yvonne,
what a delightful story. I totally believe you. I love to feed the birds as well, but after a certain time here, they disappear all together, and don't come back for several months. Down in Hoonah, just certain species disappeared, but others would stay the winter. I miss them when they're gone. They get used to having their dinner at a certain place, and when it's not there, you can bet the squawking will start. Thanks so much for sharing this.
Have a blessed day.

Well, if you're going to let them in, put some newspaper on the floor, and lock the cats in the bedroom.
-
hahaha. We've had birds in the house, and the cats never bothered them. They took it as the new kid on the block.

A well-written story, and most enjoyable to read. I think you will hear from many of your readers that they have experienced something similar. I know I have. During the winter I also had a heated bird bath that was very popular too. Good Job. Terry.

What a great idea. A heated bird bath. Thanks, Terry.

You can find a heating element on Amazon for bird baths, and they love it. Terry.

Thanks. I'll take a look. I have a fish pond where everything goes for a drink, and couple of bird baths. I think I'll get a heater for the baths.

I believe you. Hummingbirds are very talented when it comes to telling you the feeder needs refurbishing. LOL They can really tell you off. I have had all the birds tell me in the past, just as you describe. Good job. Nancy:)xxx

Thanks, Nancy. I've had them chatter up a storm when I'm outside and the feeders are empty. I've never had them come to the door before. Next thing I know, they'll be knocking. hahahaha.

I certainly do believe you. Animals know about us - they know we will feed them and look after them - well most of us anyway. I recently read of a penguin that leapt into a boat to escape from an orca and of a polar bear that came to a house begging for food. We are all more closely linked than we can imagine. Thanks for sharing.
