This is super fun and so clever, Zanya. I'd rather do it old fashioned way like in the romance novels. I guess the times have changed, even for the upper crust. Delightful short, and a sure winner!

Sending you my best today as always and my very best wishes for the contest.

Looks like Sir Edward has had his requirements met. Not just an heir, but the right kind for him to pass on his manor to. He can now say hello to his heir and goodbye to the for sale sign.

Hi Zanya,
It seems Sir Edward wasn't interested in love, just an heir. But the heir must be blue-blooded... from a noble family, aristocrats with lots of money. That made his heart skip a beat. It used to be love caused a heart to skip a beat... or a narrowed aortic valve, at least. But he just needed, basically, an egg donor. His heir would take over Mordeley Manor when he passed on to his reward. Then, the property would be in the same family for four centuries.
I wondered if "Mordeley" had any significance. But I don't see it. Aristocracy is more interested in power than anything else, and that comes from land and fortune. I'm sure Sir Edward had both, but "you can't take it with you". You need an heir.
Nicely penned! Good Luck in the 75 Words Flash Fiction contest!
Hugs,
Kimbob

Blue blood is royalty! Lol! This is a fabulous piece of Flash Fiction, Zanya, it reminds me a bit of Dracula and his castle. There was a wonderful twist at the end. Well done!! Good luck in the contest. :)) Sandra xx

Oh, how amusing! So, Sir Edward has been beaten on a chance of a heir - another blue blooded egg has been found (lol). Hilarious, love your ending.

Great imagery, visuals and terrific humor. Good luck in the contest.

That's funny. A very well-written, 75 word story. You were able to develop a character in limited words, so much that I chuckled when I read the ending. Great writing,! I enjoyed reading. :))

It's a win/win for Sir Edward. In these modern times one is able to buy almost anything. In your short story you managed to bring the reader from a place in the distant past to modern times. I enjoyed this.

Leaving the family manor to strangers is not in the cards if Sir Edward can produce an heir. It seems he has been busy with life in other areas and at his age is now aware that immediate action is needed. In comes technology. The family manor may still be saved.
This is a delightful look at how things have changed, and how they have not.
Your style is engaging and you had my full attention throughout.
