We fight wars for freedom. Liberty flows in our veins and nestles in our marrow. And yet was it not "free will" that set us asunder and brought us face to face with sin? It's a conundrum I've often pondered. I'm hopeful that one day I will understand why such a loving God gave such imperfect beings the ability to mess things up. Ah. One day it will all make sense. I lean back into those fruit trees as well.
What a journey you're taking me on!

Hi Jim,
This is a nicely rhyme rendition of what happened in the Garden of Eden
to bring free will and the option to believe or not to believe. I like the discerning and philosophical feel to this poem.
Keep writing and stay healthy

This poem, Seasons of Mind I, makes the reader think that the history of the fall of man did not necessarily have to be a one-off event. Perhaps mankind could blow it again.

Bill, if we keep pushing it, for example lie, something being a good thing that turns out to be a bed thing like AI for example, yep! We could screw it all up again.

I belive knowledge in itself is not bad, the problem is how people use it. People from the beginning wanted the freedom to make their own choices in with that came the end of immortality and banished from paradise.
Interesting poem story with an outstanding presentation.

Love the pic, it fits your words so perfectly. Excellent poetic form that makes the reader think. How we disobeyed God and continue to disobey Him at times. I admire your smooth flow of rhyming words that adds to the strength of your theme.

I have come to believe that the forbidden fruit is a metaphor. That fruit may very well be technology. We have eaten of this fruit, and the consequences are close at hand.

Paul, I could not agree more fully! Come on, we Know that anything man can and does create has the potential for mass destruction so why not to that list AI. We will never learn it seems.
-
Yes, AI is very scary. Did you see the interview that Elon Musk had with Tucker Carlson?
-
Yes...unsettling!

You really write wonderful poetry. Do you enter any of these in FanStory's contests? The words in your poem brings a serene feeling to the heart. I see you wrote this for the NaPoWriMo contest. Good luck!

Rosemary, thank you I do enter some contests, but realize free verse is read and enjoyed selectively,

God gave us a kaleidoscope of wonders. Some folks go around with blinders on. We who love the Lord soak up the beauty of every living creature or plant we meet on our journey. Eve tempted Adam and started the free will scenario. Look what we have done! Mother earth cries out for surcease. Thanks for sharing. Blessings, Kay xx

You have penned a beautiful poem here, my friend. I really liked how you brought the other fruits into this garden, perhaps a peach, pear. Who knows; but you're right about that that was the beginning of free will. Brings a lot of what Ifs in this world to ponder on.
Nicely done
