Awesome story Kay!' it is hard to hear the cruelties of war. But without them we cannot fully appreciate our freedom. The wonderful men and women who went to fight these wars deserve such honors. My dad lied his way at 15 into help his mom feed his siblings when his dad died. I can't imagine a 15 year old seeing what he saw back then.
Thank your for. this awesome story; well told and so interesting!.
One more big happy birthday!!

Hello You, I hope you got tons of reviews for my poem? I have bookcased it. Men were men and women were women back in those days. Thanks for reading Wombat! Love, Kay xx

Hey you! I have written you lots of PMs since but I see that you haven't seen any of them. Please go and read all of the reviews, as you will be amazed by what people have to say not only for the poem, but of course the birthday girl. You are in for a treat if you haven't read the reviews. Also have you noticed some new reviewers for your poem, cause people who didn't know you before want to know you now. It is awesome. Did you like the new video I put up. I thought it was great, but what do I know about that stuff?? LOL.

This is a great flash story. You have paid a wonderful tribute to this brave woman! I think her story would make a great memoir movie. Thank you for sharing. Terry

This is quite heart wrenching, it is sad how many have lost their lives to war and famine.
Great telling of a tragic part of civilisations history.
The writing is very well done and it reads rather smoothly.

Hello Liah, Nice to meet you. Thanks for reading my story of the nurses who never came home. The Japanese are now our allies. War is cruel. Blessings, Kay XX

That's a difficult story but you tell it well and clearly with words that inform readers about something that is not well known. My own father (who lived past 99 years old), was a merchant marine whose ship was captured. He was a prisoner of war, got malaria, and after he was released from the hospital, he created an escape for his crew. They were held on Dekar in Africa. British allied soldiers navy picked them up off the shore of Africa and brought them north to question them then let them go. My pen father who was older because I was youngest of large family. I have such respect for any service people and especially those who've gone through war. Thank you for sharing this interesting and true story.
Best wishes to you!
Alexandra

Hey, Alexandra. Why don't you write your Father's story? You could enter a contest with it. Thank you for reading my account of the nurses who never came home. War is cruel, my dad told me how cruel. He served 4 years in New Guinea and told me about the torture and beheadings the Japanese carried out. Funnily enough, they are now our allies. Blessings, Kay xx

I am speechless here. I applaud you for giving these nurses and the soldier a voice. It is amazing that this nurse survived, it must have been so horrible for her. Excellent writing and a story that needs to be told.

Hello, my friend. The Japs were a cruel lot. Dad served in New Guinea and he hated them. Thanks for reading. K xx

My parents did not like the Japanese either because of Pearl harbor.

I do think that the. Ruelty of both the Japanese and Nazis get overlooked, if not forgotten, by American, if not the world's media outlets in so far as entertainment.
I've seen the Japanese invasions even romanticized recently, and underplayed in some movies.
The Germans are more made to look like ignorant dunces which they were not.
Interesting. The world produced a lot of heroes then.

My dad served in New Guinea where our soldiers were tortured and then beheaded. Dad hated the Japs. Thanks for reading Douglas. K xx

What a story. Told with economical and graphic tones. Frightening and compelling. Of course it is not just the Japanese, but humanity that does these horrendous things the world over. Good luck in the contest.

Ah, yes but the Japs were experts at torture, hated women, and had had thousands of years to hone their skills. Dad served in New Guinea for 4 years and he hated them. Now they come to our country and there is still a bad feeling about them. Thank you, K.

Oh my goodness, this is horrific and war brings out the worst in people. This story is so brutal and those poor nurses who only did good were treated so badly here. Although stories like this are horrific, we must always know about such history, thank you for sharing this story with us, love Dolly x x x

This is a powerful story of bravery, selflessness, and honor. I posted an essay about my service to American women who served in the military and included a history of women during World War 2. I am glad you have focused on contributions of these Australian women during the war. I know there are many, many more stories to be told.

The Japanese were just as bad as the Wehrmacht. Dad served in New Guinea for 4 years and he hated the Japs. Now, they come here as tourists and we still have reservations, they are so damn aggrogant. Pleased you wrote about your servicewomen. Did you post it long ago? K xx
