Thsnk you for your touching poem about remembering the past,
It's hard to lose a spouse, especially when you've been married for so many years.
Your poem was beautiful and I wish you well in the love contest.

Welcome to FanStory, Norm Valentine from Minnesota! What a delight to read your beautiful love poetry today. Most noticeable was the free verse style which is refreshing on this site. Positively dazzling!
Sending you my best today as always, and my very best wishes for the upcoming contest.

A sad poem, but the way you have focused on time with your 'Now' and 'Then' is most effective. Excellent free verse and a great take on the prompt. Good luck with this. x

That is definitely love for sure. Someone who's about to leave the world and I need you the most. That is truly love. And a dog that you love the car just is hard when they're gone. I assume this for someone you loved in your life. My condolences to you and thank you for writing this lovely poem. I've seen the old issues with grammar sentence structure spelling. That'sthetics it's a great submission best of luck to you. I hope you have a wonderful night!

This is a beautiful poem that touches the heart with bittersweetness. It perfectly embodies what is many times experienced by those in such a situation...in those moments so many thoughts invade our mind... random memories and details that we are many times afraid to forget... In any case, a truly lovely piece. The last "then" was a final tug at the heart that almost pulled a tear out--one word but it's so powerful and evokes so much feeling. Beautifully done!

This is a really beautiful tribute and I particularly liked the way your narrators' anecdotes were linked through the connection of Then and Now, allowing us as readers to travel back and forth. This is such a poignant piece and I really liked the fact that you allowed room for the reader to enter in and do the work emotionally for ourselves. Best wishes for the contest.

You do have a way with words that tug at the heartstrings. This poem is relatable, as it highlights how we hold onto the past when the future is uncertain and a bit frightening. Life without her...after 40 years. Beautiful sentiments. Love with the ecstasy of joy and the agony of loss.
