-Congratulations on the win, Rod,
I can see why you did.
-Very nice artwork and presentation.
-A good topic, imagery, and rhyme.
-You tell a good love story about
these "seniors kissing 'neath a tree."
-You do a good job with the rest of
the poem as you watch this loving pair,
and end with a very good concluding line.

Ah! the word you chose was "together." Sweet! This is just a beauty of a poem. Though I am far from this age (at least I'd like to believe so) and also quite far from love (as I guess not by choice) this poem embodies and brings to attention the beauty and delight of the subtle things. I feel we often get caught up in the "doing of things" the urge to do "something" yet reading this now makes me realize the warmth of the little things.
Thanks for the write and share! And beautiful work of art by the way!
Cheers to a new year!

Ciao mystery poet, you now have 12 votes.

Your poem made me think of my parents.

My mother passed away 11 years before my father. Papa' came back to live with me in Italy after her passing.

Facing the loss in two helped us both. I think Papa' would have been lost without me.

I had hardly any family life growing up and I never married or had a partner yet I'm sure it must be very hard to cope with the loss and continue life without the one you loved and lived with for decades.

During the eleven years pa and I shared together, I learned much about him and when he passed away in 2017, I missed him very much.

Eight months later, I wrote my first poem and found fanstory.

I see that this is an acrostic poem and being "Together" is a great thing to be grateful for especially as we count the unknown number of years that we have remaining. Great theme! Best wishes in the contest!

I enjoyed you acrostic in rhyme form. Just a suggestion 'He spoke softly' instead of 'He spoke so soft' The last line you have left the reader guessing the missing word is 'They' How about 'Remaining as one another year' Another idea I had for last line 'Romance is in the air' Love the picture Best of luck

This very beautiful poem is about how a person can acknowledge love when a person becomes elderly. Not everyone expresses love the same way; a touch on the cheek, or a touch on the arm can express gentleness.

Absolutely love the picture and the sentiment expressed here. I've been with my hubby for Forty Years!! And I can only hope that when folks see us, they get this kind of feeling.

Well done!
Good luck in the contest,

~MP~

This reminds me of a tradition my husband and I have though the last two years we have unfortunately not been able to return to our wedding spot. We would make new vows each year of what we wanted to work on for each other. It seemed unreasonable that we would be able to remember every single thing that we promised in one moment, but certainly as we grew to love and know one another we could work on what was truly important for that time.

What a lovely tradition, Janis. I am not sure this couple returned to a special spot to renew their vows, but obviously the day is special (their anniversary). Many thanks for sharing.

This is lovely and so cute! Too often we focus exclusively on young lovers and don't celebrate longevity and companionship to the degree that we should. Thanks for the share! :)

When I wrote this, I was thinking of my wife and me celebrating our 54th anniversary (but not as openly as this couple). Many thanks, Navada, for your kind praise.
