Nobody does, Barbara. but it must be accepted as the payment for living. That is the way it was meant to be. You look so somber and serious in your photo. You would be cast as a small-town teacher or ministers' wife in classic old Hollywood. regards from Gerard.

An excellent poem - poignant, compelling, thought provoking. I liked the care with which you included so many people affected. The imagery had life, and told a lot of embedded stories.

Thak you, Nicki! Having lived through the Vietnam war, it does become a rather grim imploring for war to stop somewhere sometime and let things settle and have respite from the gunfire and the explosions, Thank you very much! Regards GK

It is the message written here that does compel me to pray fervently for those that serve our country and the families of our fallen soldiers.I can only hope that others will do the same. Thank you for this.

Mae, what can one say except the humblest " Thank You." I am very pleased that you liked it. I drifted a bit in my thoughts and recollections as I wrote this. I am glad that I got it right. Thank you Regards GK
