Sorry my review took so long to post too. I was on vacation for a week.
This is another charming entry in the series. I always enjoy the interactions between you and Rachelle, which highlight how different you are. Those contrasts are a main source of the enjoyable humor of both your and Rachelle's sides of the story. I particularly enjoy the ongoing teasing about the corn cob "curlers."
Your interaction with Helene in the story is certainly believable, and doesn't make me feel as though I'm engaging in "willful suspension of disbelief."
I'm looking forward to reading the next chapter.

Thank you. Don't like doalogue or story lines that come out of the blue. So, thank you for saying that. I appreciate this review. Gretchen

I totally understand. I like how you asked Helene the question and then came to a complete understanding as you have made those same sacrifice of the place to call home for your husband. I did the same but now we have moved back to what feels more like home to me and closer to my grandkids! Great job in showing how two very different people can connect over the same values.

Thank you so much. I've always been a judgmental type person. The older I get, I learn to try and see through others eyes. I'm glad you enjoyed this. Gretchen

I bet bathing in hot springs would be a nice change, as long as the hot water didn't relax me to the point that I couldn't get out, lol. This another fantastic addition to this story, Gretchen. I loved the pun with the corn cobs and Rachelle. I bet she gets a kick out of it as well. I'm off to read her side.
God bless,
Steve

Hello, Gretchen!
A most enjoyable read of another exceptionally well-crafted chapter.
Four points:
1. BARBIE DOLLS! GAWD! Never allowed to own one! And don't even think of a KEN doll... Sigh...
2. I'm with Rachelle: always bring a swimsuit. One never knows...
3. Loved this paragraph:
I smile, thinking of my husband. It was his dream to live at the beach. His dream and not mine, but I stayed because I wanted him to be happy. "I stayed because I loved my husband. I guess it didn't matter where we ended up, as long as we ended up together." I feel the same...
4. Fabulous concluding paragraph that resonates with me deeply. I don't do well if I am away from my family for too long...
Much enjoyed, Gretchen!
Thank you for sharing!
fondly,
diane

Thank you so much, Diane. Even though this is totally fiction it is making me reflect. Weird but true. I appreciate this. Gretchen

I enjoyed this down-to-earth chapter with that understanding you exhibited. It's certainly easier to understand people's motivations when you can relate them to your own.
Also neat to see the effect of no phone and a simpler life free of the stresses you often feel was having on you. I could just feel the tension fading away from you.
I loved the humor too. "The tourist attractions?" Cracked me up with that one! Good chapter, Gretchen.

Most of my life I dreamed of having a house by the sea but as I get older all I want is to live close to my children and grandchildren. Thinking living away from them makes me sad.
I love this book. It's so interesting to read the same story from two different points of view.

Hello Gretchen,
I would imagine as the time for rescue draws nearer, a bit more reflection might be taking place. It's certainly been different for both of you, but a chance to face different challenges and thus grow as a person. No doubt the friendships you both are making will last a lifetime. Well done gal.
Have a blessed day.

Thank you for sharing. Yes, Home is wherever your heart is. Sometimes it's a person.
We walk through the field to the hot springs and I look around. (comma after springs, you switched subjects)
Helene tilts her head and studies me for a while before answering. "You said (answering,)

It is difficult for us to understand a different way of life .Your first para about took me back to my younger days .WE used to live in a village where there were no toy shops ..we used to make our own toys .Like balls from leaves ..dolls from paper and leaves. Huge coconut fronds were used to as a 'vehicle' !! One person will sit on it and the other will drag it .The sturdy base of those leaves were used as 'bats;...it goes on .. We had our games -police and thief , Butch (a kind of game where we have to hop through squares), juggling with stones...etc etc..I wonder at the huge accumulation of toys of my granddaughters and still they say'WE are bored.."!!
I dont remember ever being bored..

If we have good brains, we adjust. It is still the women who adjust the most. All that is changing. I hope and pray it is for the better. I wonder about all the ramifications of a more centered lefestyle. What will be will be. Good writing. Karen
