Is this chapter intense or what? I am off the site for a week or more and come back to this...a son murdering his father in cold blood. (No, I wasn't expecting that!) You've written of the age-old question of a parent's struggle to do the right thing---and not the right thing to protect his son from the consequences he so deserves. I hope Angelo can get away with the papers, but hmmmm....I know you, Carol!
Excellent from the first sentence to the last!

My sweet Karenina....My day is made!
Never turn your back on me when I am in the writing mode...you never know what you will get. LOL When I first started to write that chapter, I hadn't intended to kill Carlos but it just seemed to work into the story and there he was bleeding on the floor. The carpet was getting ruined so I just had to finish him off. LOL And the other chapters...Lots happening!

And a big sigh too!...At this point. Mike just shoved my Birthday Story out of first place and took over for All Time Best of the Month. LOL Looks like my birthday month might finish off as a great one.....Thrilled is putting it mildly.

Oh. Bloody carpet?
Clearly a murder was called for!
(Maybe this is a James Patterson trick...I recall lots of bloody carpet and murder scenarios!)
You're soaring this month!
I'm so happy for you!

This is exceptionally well written. You have clearly pulled at the heart strings as Carlos accepts that his son is no good and as a heartless Jose murders his father. Angelo is devastated by the loss of his friend, but he leaves as ordered to take the papers back to the USA and return to what may be Naomi's deathbed. (You don't actually say he has the papers, but it is necessary.)

He actually doesn't..... I forgot to put it in there so I covered in the next chapter... Nice part of having the ability to slip things in when necessary. I am thrilled that it is another chapter that you really enjoyed. You are awesome@

Oh my gosh, what a surprise turn of events. Who would have thought Jose would have killed his father? I guess he felt desperate, but still...
Poor Angelo practically made Carlos confront his son, and then had to watch him die.
So, where is Jose in all of this at the end? Hmmmmm... Hope they catch him.
Great job,
Rhonda

Never a dull moment in your stories, and just when I start thinking one way, you create another path that I hadn't even anticipated being a possibility. I like the name Carol much better than Agatha, and the stories just as well. Thanks for sharing.

Aren't you dishing out the flattery today!!! Keep it up...I so do love it! Appreciate YOU and your review as always. Glad you were surprised with the events...guess what? So was I! Wasn't how I initially saw it unfolding, but I surprise myself at times.

It seems it was too late for Carlos to teach Jose anything. This is such a sad goodbye for Angelo but now he is really done with that mafia family. However, there are details that I wonder about. Did Angelo take the papers with him? No one even looked at them yet. It could be unrelated papers. Also, did the bodyguards stop Jose -take the gun away? It seems the bodyguards are protective of Angelo so he could get away.

I thought I said he took them when Carlos told him to, but I might not have said it. I will have to make a slight change if I did not, because he does have them on the plane with him now. Also, the bodyguards riddled Jose's chest with bullets so he died also. The good thing is now there is no one to stop Alejandra from returning to his family if he wants to.
thanks for the review, Helen. I will check if I did or not.

No one wants to see a son shoot his father, but Jose has also breathed his last as Angelo ascends into a place of putting right what Jose has laid waste, his poor father loved him but also has suffered the consequences of that love, beautifully written Carol, blessings Roy

This was a difficult chapter for me to write because I don't like to have a lot of violence, but when I started writing it, it seemed that the two men were so far apart and also Angelo needed to be free of the dark side so it just kind of wrote its self. Thanks so much for the review, Roy.

You are so full of surprises. I never expected anything that happened in this chapter. How could a son kill his own father? Carlos died trying to do the right thing. I'm sorry he died, but I'm glad the papers are being returned to the states. This is an incredible, action packed chapter.

To be honest, I didn't expect Carlos to get killed either especially by Jose, but as I was writing it just seemed to happen... bringing that part of Angelo to a close regardless of his feelings for Carlos. And yes, the papers are on their way back to the States....

Carlos' jaw tightened. "You have the documents, si?" You always have a line or two in your stories that I really like Carol. I feel very much like an amateur in this site. Of course, I am though lol! But you are a professional who should be writing books! Keep up the great work!

It appears I have a ghost playing tricks on my site today. I answered this, saved and here you are again...Hmmm! Well, I shall do my best to answer again....
First, I said that you are to kind but like a kid in a candy store, I am yelling, "More! More!" I appreciate every word.
Second, You are no amateur. You put feelings into your posts - emotions that resonate with the reader. You are a writer - poem or prose - you have something to say and you share it. That's awesome! Don't ever stop!
Thirdly, Thank you as always and please stop again. Have a great day!

I wasn't expecting that to happen to Carlos at the end, the tension was excellent in the final scene and really kept me hooked, waiting to see what was going to happen next. I can't wait for the next chapter, Carol.

Guess what? I didn't fully intend to have Carlos meet his end either, but as I was writing it just seemed to fit that way. I am pleased that you enjoy the tension and my characters are believable.

That was very dramatic. I knew Jose was bad, but that level of evil, to kill his own father in cold blood, that's horrendous. I am glad Angelo has retained the papers! (He did take them back I presume when Carlos was shot?) Well written chapter!! But hard to read of this violence.

Thanks, Wendy! I didn't intend for the story to unfold quite that way but as I was writing, it just seemed to fit. Jose was past the point of being redeemed and unfortunately, his father and him paid the price. I don't like writing violence of that depth that's why the reader doesn't see it often.
