My apologies for coming in late here but this is a fluently expressed chapter in which I could start to pull the details together. Luke is clearly in a difficult situation with Ruth and is desperate for some guidance and wisdom from Ayanna, as well as some show of affection. He is also very fond of Anna Beth. But what is he to do about Ruth who is wanted for murder? There is an air of haunting anticipation hanging over the story and I felt instantly engaged and wanting to learn more. There are some small edits: Ayanna looked at Luke...(")Honor does not always treat love the same."
"I reckon you('re) no accident coming into my life....
Ayanna (p)laced the rinsed vegetables...

Thank you so much for this excellent and enjoyable read. Take care Debbie

Pardon me, but I seem to have stumbled into a story that was already under way.... I should have looked before I started reading. I can tell that there is a lot of conflict going on nad moments of love as well. Your description and flow are quite captivating.

Ayana has wisdom. I can't wait to read how Luke solves this problem. This is another good write.

He stopped for a moment to admire how at home the little tyke Anna Beth seemed to be (tyke,)

Cole tripped over himself to get to Ayanna on the flat rock. (Who's Cole??)

Ayanna looked at Luke with her blazing blue eyes. Honor does not always treat love the same." ("Honor)

Ayanna Placed the rinsed vegetables into a burlap sack, threw it over her shoulder, followed the pair. (placed)

Great reading that keeps the reader engaged throughout no matter what's happening, awaiting conflict encompassing like a fog. And what a fantastic ending sentence: ". . . when grace ends and the long arm of the law comes calling." Thanks for sharing.

I feel terrible that I don't have a six for this wonderful chapter. I high five with compliments. Lucas is in a most difficult place but then again so is everyone in this story. I see you took my advice and added Beth to Anna for Anna Beth. It does help greatly to distinguish her from Ayanna. Your best chapter yet!
Sending you my best today as always.

What a dilemma, Anna Beth wants a dad, and Alannah has certainly brought a wisdom into Luke's life that he really needs, and Ruth is showing signs of someone who is not enjoying life. Well done Stan, great plot, pretty hard to solve, beautifully written, blessings Roy
Typo : (") Honor does not...

Poor Luke has a dilemma as he loves Ayanna and Anna Beth but not Ruth. So how can he provide a safe family environment for all these and avoid the legal problems that Ruth has? Since Ayanna believes in Jesus, perhaps they can ask Him. I think you would like the First Nations Bible. In it, they translated Jesus' Name as Creator Sets Free.

I really recommend the translation to really get into the mindset of Native Americans. They translated every city name as Village of so Bethlehem is Village of Bread. And a sword is a "long knife" etc.

At a church service we met with the man who was the editor of the translation project. I love the way they translate all the names with the original meaning like Abraham as Father of Many Nations. I didn't agree with their translating a different name when there were two different James or Simon etc. I guess they wanted to differentiate between them but the name was the same.
Check it out if you have time:
