This is a beautiful scene you describe Melissa. I was imagining hot chocolate with the book and then the mulled scents of Fall had me thinking of mulled wine. A great little place to read and relax.

There are so many elements to enjoy in this beautifully fluent and rhyming verse: the coziness of being warm and comfortable, the scents of food and spices, a welcome space to call one's own while the colours and chill of autumn gather outside. Rhyming at its best! I thoroughly enjoyed this and it brings back days in Connecticut when the leaves turned red, the fireplace was lit, and the scent of spices filled the air!

I think this reads like a sonnet--however, only eight syllables per. What an interesting and brilliant piece in this style. I love this time of the year, it seems to bring me comfort.
