I can imagine seeing a longhorn steer in your yard, front or back yard, would be quite a shock. But then I live in southern California where this would be an unlikely sight, now mountain lions are a different story.

I just this second posted a club poem about Texas, then I read this. Our minds must be on the some wavelength. Anyhow, I found it very enjoyable and thanks for sharing the tale.

This is funny. I'll bet he felt justified about having his knowledge called into question. I would understand you finding it hard to believe a longhorn would be moving around in the city.

Loved this true story. I am a bit late coming in on this. I will get to the earlier chapters, shortly. You are posting on a different day so I knew there would be something different.

A cute little story. We have some steers and cows around this neighborhood and I have often wondered what would happen if one of them got loose somehow. Not too long ago a steer got loose in Philadelphia of all places, on the railroad tracks near the downtown station. Those people probably had a double take on that commute. estory

Aw, Barbara. This is a fun story. Your son did indeed know the difference from a deer and a longhorn. To be honest, I think most would have known this was not a deer. Lol. Ulla xxx

I think so too, but never expected a longhorn in my front yard. Thank you for the kind review.

I chuckled when I read this, Barbara. I also wondered if you couldn't have grilled him for dinner.
Thanks for sharing this entertaining story that can only come with family life.
P.S. We underestimate our children:-)

You have me curious as to how that Longhorn is going to fit in with your next post. Probably lots of people wouldn't know a cow from a steer. I would definitely be in favor of fences. They don't have cowpokes out herding the cattle anymore. I can relate to the situation, as my dad's cows would sometimes wander onto someone else's property. It's funny your son was so insistent it was a Longhorn, and you kept telling him it was a deer. I couldn't understand the police response. If they didn't do steers, they surely could have directed your husband to a department that did. Anyway, it was out of your yard. Maybe the rustlers got it! This is a great anecdote. judi

Haha! Quite a beauty! And this teaches us not to think we always know better than our children:)) I'm not sure what a steer looks like so I'm certainly not questioning the image. I'm so pleased he found his way back though. Nice, refreshing story! Thank you, Barbara. Take care Debbie
