They do show the power of nature which God has created. I think probably man's neglect and destruction of the natural environment are more likely causes of the increased frequency. However, God can use man's fear of death and judgment to draw people to Himself for forgiveness. Sin and disobedience to His ways are blatant and rampant, and we will be held accountable for our thoughts, words, and actions, so maybe that's the message?
