I'm not sure what rioting is supposed to achieve, but I don't think that it dies very much, except perhaps anger God, in a rift that seems to be growing by the day, it certainly smells of the sulphur that pours from volcanoes, beautifully written, blessings Roy

I just love a good poem about nature. And this is what I thought this was until I read on. That's so sad that monuments of been so disrespected and uncared for! I can feel the sense of frustration you have and rightly so! I'm glad you were able to vent ot out in your poem, well done!

Thanks for the excellent review and your sympathy for the theme here. My point is really that experience is complicated, history is not black and white. Iconoclasts can try to erase history, but these things mean different things to different people and there are those who get swept away in these events. And their feelings are just as valid as those who do the sweeping. estory

Thanks for the excellent review and I am glad it got so many people thinking. History is complicated, it is not black and white, and the feelings of those who are swept away by iconoclasts are just as valid as those who do the sweeping. We need more empathy and less demagogary. estory

I grew up in China and things changed a lot while I was growing up and after I left. I saw a lot of social upheavals. The parties can make 5 year plans but people can't. The US has had such a long period of peace prosperity that people can become doctors for generations in a family because they know it's a winning strategy. It's not going to be like that anymore. AI will disrupt the establishment. People have to do things that are totally different than before. It's going to be an interesting period to live.
I never liked the book "Dr. Zhivago" but I liked the movie version.

The last line, remembering, remembering is poignant in expressing that sorrow.

As ever, your notes are as enjoyable as your verse despite the poignancy of the message. The scene you portray is a dystopian one reflecting rioting I imagine was a spin off from that of 2021 on the US Capitol. The imagery of people trudging on and on in their overcoats reminds me of pictures of POW soldiers during the war. It's a powerful post! Well done! Debbie
