Hey Yvette.
This is a great entry for the contest. You cover many aspects and examples of love and what results could be. Your descriptors are really good and that is what makes poetry good. Just like you did here.

I liked the wafting rhythms of the free verse here, I liked the soft musical notes of the language, and the imagery was great, abstract and impressionistic at the same time. This is like an abstract expressionist portrait of the complicated emotions that float in and out of the experience of love. I really liked the opening and the last stanza. estory

Thanx so much for your review, E -- free verse is certainly not my usual thing, but I'm dipping in my toe into 'new' things here and there since my 'return' ... been a bit of a journey, but it feels good to put pen to paper again! ;) Take care and have a great weekend! ;) Yvette

Read Four Quartets by TS Elliot, Relearning the Alphabet by Denise Levertov, and The Clouds of that Country by Jack Anderson. Great free verse books. estory

HMMMMMM, my little Southern Charmer! Is this saying what I HOPE it's saying? Has a light of hope in the form of someone nice manifested himself on your horizon? This is a lovely poem, full of promise and acceptance and reality. I especially liked your description: "Perhaps not with the fanfare of the first time around." Because, to that, I say, "GOOD!!" since that wasn't permanent or particularly realistic! (I've been there, too, remember!)
Great job with this, and I hope it serves you well in the What is Love adjudicating!! xoxoxo

Thanks so much for your review... No, there is certainly nothing personal about this one, just a topic that worked for the pen at the time... Take care! :) Yvette

Gotcha. It's that Jewish Mommie thing I have going on. Sing with me here, Yvette: Matchmaker, Matchmaker, make me a match!!

I sooooo NOT.... let me repeat: NOT... interested in men or a man or anything posing as a man or any relationship AT ALL right now... and, I'm guessing, possibly EVER.... :-) ;-) :-) :-) Really, I'm good... wink, wink.

Okay!! Important decision made!!

Very thoughtfully written, and yes there is a smooth gentleness and peace about finding love again, where doors of grief are unlocked to welcome hope. Well done. Best wishes for the contest.

How lovely!! You've written a very good FreeVerse that really does a good job of sharing the nuances, reality and the substance of true loving ways. I enjoyed reading it and wish you luck in the contest. Good job!

Very enjoyable work. I enjoyed the weave you give to your expression of love and that it comes together in the final expression of that four-letter word

There is always something about making up. It's stepping back into a warm pair of arms. What a wonderfully written poem. Good luck in the contest! Have a great day, and God bless.

What a uplifting poem! The word choices are wonderful. I loved "soft whispers" and "shining healing light" - it creates such a warm atmosphere. The idea of a place "outside doors without need for locks" gives me a sense of freedom and safety. I can't help but feel uplifted after reading it. Thank you for sharing such a heartfelt poem!

A beautifully written poetic refrain with some beautifully written free verse poetry that sings of the wonders that catch the discerning eye of the wordsmith as they quote a heart song of the eye, beautifully written, well done, good luck, blessings Roy

Spiritual and truth. Beautifully written where the words flowed together with a delightful rhythm. Generally, I'm not a fan of free verse, but this really is good. Thank you.
