Yvonne,
What a beautiful and sweet story. Congratulations on your first place win.
I remember you from a few years ago, and I'm glad we connected on Fanstory.
I love the warmth in your story, in such a stark, chilled setting.
Best wishes and blessings, Yvonne.

Thanx so much for stopping in on this one, my lady -- and, yeah, just back on and most of my 'fannings' and my 'fans' seem to have become innactive or something... but I'm hoping to touch base with folks again... so GOOD TO SEE YOU, LADY CINDY!! ;) Take care of you and have a great weekend! ;) Yvette

This is a great flash fiction story you have penned for the writing prompt contest. You used great descriptive words that went well with the picture. Best wishes in the contest. Teri

Good morning, Yvette!
How I have missed your writing whether it be poetry or prose.
Your story flows so well, and I could well envision the surroundings.
Loved your description of the old lady... and Henry's eyes...
Congratulations on your win!
Thank you for sharing!
fondly,
diane

Thanx so much for stopping in on this on, my lady -- feels good to finally put my quill in the ink again, so to speak. Kindof like that ol' bicycle adage about getting back on... :-) :-) but it did really feel good! ;) Take care! ;) Yvette

I really like this line: I turned and caught a glimpse of the warmest eyes ever placed on such a weathered face.
I read in your profile that you like to write fantasy, so I knew where this was going. Still, a lovely read - romance never goes out of style. Dead or alive:-)
I love reading and writing flash fiction, so I especially enjoyed this.
Is this a contest? If so, I wish you luck.

Hey there!! So sorry for the delay: big visit from 'corporate/CEO' today so the last few days have been insane hours readying the store.... but now I'm off tomorrow and Saturday (too bad there are no more dance halls these days - lol!!). Seriously, though, thank you for the lovely review, Pam... and, yes, it was a contest. Thanx so much, my lady, and be sure to stop by again some time! ;) Yvette

Hey Yvette.
What a great story. Your descriptors and your narrative kept the secret right until the end. It's Very touching. And a well written story. Sometimes it doesn't take many words to describe a really good one. Congratulations on your win.

Wiping tears from my eyes. What a heart-warming story, and it was so well written. I was freezing my butt off on the bench right along with Alicia. You made all the characters believable, and I cared about them immediately. I liked your last line. "A promise is a promise, baby. gayla

Oh, my goodness, Gayla, what a wonderful review and thank you so much for those beautiful stars -- they truly are a wonderful sight!! ;) And I'm so sorry for the delay: big visit from 'corporate/CEO' today so the last few days have been insane hours readying the store.... but now I'm off tomorrow and Saturday (too bad there are no more dance halls these days - lol!!). Just getting my quill tip back in the ink after a few years off the site... but you're welcome to stop by the front porch here any time!! ;) Thanx again, my lady, and take care out there! ;) Yvette

I was thinking about the scripture where the Apostle Paul wrote how we entertained angels unaware. I know this is just a story, but never sell the fact we do entertain them short. I liked your story , you did good.

I, too, believe that there are angels among us.... 'entertaining angels' in many different aspects of that term... Thank you so much for your review!

This is a great entry for the Flash Fiction writing prompt competition. A sweet story of a love that lasts beyond death and is strong enough to keep promises made during life. Very nicely done!

Awesome! It also brought tears to my eyes. I couldn't help but imagine what it would be like to have the love of my life keep his promise like that. I suppose, in other ways, he does. I enjoyed the story. Good luck in the contest.
