Hello Senyai!
*****I have pledged to rate in accordance with the criteria outlined on the Q&A page. I will award 4-stars based solely on grammar and lack of proofreading, never on content or creative choices.*****
Your skills as a poet are on full display with this poem, the first of yours I have read.
---The first stanza is beautiful, with "east and west" and "Monday worst to my Sunday Best." These are fresh, clever phrases!
---The fourth stanza is equisite in the way you describe Claus physically, finishing with: "gilded black/in pools of emerald gold."
--The quote in the last stanza. Is this something original or something I should know?
---I love the idea of the Claus living now behind a waterfall and watching you.
I am sorry about the loss of Claus. You have done him a great tribute with this poem!

Oh, Patrick, what a lovely review! This made my day, sir ... yes, I miss my little kitty. He was such a vocal beastie and my constant companion.
Sixteen years, I had him sixteen years. You know you just keep missing a pet that was by your side for that long. I still think I see him rounding the door way from the hall to tell me something now and then, just from habit.
Anyway, thank you so much for such a warm and gracious review.

Ciao!
I'm sorry for your loss, I have been there and it hurts every time.
I can see you had a lovely relationship with Claus. Family worked around His needs. They're our furry babies..
I love these parts :
vocal beastie
a clairvoyant who read me
He practiced cat-telepathy effortlessly.
I believe that we will meet our furry loved ones in the after life so in the meantime cherish the happy memories.

It is so hard when we lose our pets. They really do become part of the family. It's really fascinating and funny to see how they make our home theirs, my dog always has to find the comfiest place to have a nap. A well written piece, I enjoyed reading it.

Thank you, Jacob.
Your words made total sense, pets that are loved know the home is theirs too so they just settle in. It's really dear. Thank you, Jacob for a fine review and sweet comments on my work.

So sorry for your loss. I had a cat for 20 years once.
This is an excellent poem. Very esoteric in nature. I'm going to assume it's free verse.
I enjoyed it very much.

This is a wonderful entry for the Share a Photo Poetry competition. Claus is a beautiful cat and your descriptions of him are lovely, give a real sense of his personality. I am so sorry for your loss. I have given a home to several cats over the years, most being very long-lived (and spoiled generously), all having great unique personalities. It's certainly hard to lose these furry friends. My current cat is showing signs of getting old, so heartbreaking. I really love the freestyle format and the standout presentation of your poem~a sweet tribute to a dear friend. Well done!

Such a poignant and heartfelt poem. I am sorry for your loss. Every time you think about your cat, or call your cat's name, he turns and looks at you and gives you a kitty smile.
Beautifully put together a lovely poem with fine word choices and creates a nice image. Thank you for this really well done pong. I sure hope that you're able to give love to another Kitty. I'll show you that. Thank you again.Good luck!

Hello Senya.
I enjoyed reading this poem about Claus. Your poem is very interesting as it talks about the relationship you and he had. You listed some of the activities you performed together. We can form very strong bonds with innocent little creatures who liked nothing more than to please us. The concept of through the waterfall is very interesting and creative. The emotion of the writing comes through clearly. Very nice work. Good luck in the contest.

Claus looked very much as my, Whiskers, and from the way you described him, I'm pretty sure they were related. LOL Whiskers lived to be 21 years old. My boys described her as 'Loyal Companion Cat.' Thank you for sharing this contest entry with us and good luck with the contest.

Hi Barbara,
I would have loved to know your 21 year old Whiskers! She sounds Legendary and Claus and her were probably related :-)
Animals on the whole are amazing creatures
in my humble opinion. I miss Claus terribly!
Thank you for such a heart felt review that I enjoyed so very much.

A nice ode to your family member. It is not surprising that with the holidays you think back to happier times. I rarely had a cat because of my allergies. But I once had a cat that ate salad, Regular salad. Odd isn't it? Love to you and yours. Karen

Hi Cherry,
Thank you for reviewing my poem about my Claus. Salad? Goodness! Odd choice for a kitty. Guessing your beastie was not fat but fit and trim lol.
Thanks for reviewing. Really means a lot :-)
Love,
Senyai

She was neat and trim. She was also a pill. she acted a lot like a dog in temperament. But, one day she left and did not return. I did not replace her. Karen
-
Hi Karen Cherry,
You can never really replace a cat. They are such strong personalities and fully unique, there's really no substitutes or stand ins. Salad eater? Salad dressing or did kitty eat her salad dry? :-)
Thanks for such an interesting review!
