This is a well written chapter, and you are moving smoothly with the suspense and the sense of intrigue and danger. I wish there was more you could do to increase the reason for all this. In that area it is very light. The reader keeps asking, why not just walk away? She doesn't know what she will discover, it could be something or nothing, but whatever, it will not change anything that has happened. You know what I mean. Like, if she gets murdered now, some readers will say, "Hey, she should have left days ago. She knew better." She needs bigger stakes to justify the risks.

If they've turned Callum and now Eve won't talk, Max is stalled, and Danielle seems to be on her own...I doubt that she's safe and she should go home with or without Vsllum.

Everyone seems to be avoiding straightforward dialogue with Danielle, and this creates good tension between the characters. There seems to be quite a bit going on between the lines.

There must be something to fear as they all seem afraid to talk to Danielle about anything that matters. Eve admits to being frightened but won't admit why. Danielle is gradually becoming more and more frightened. Why doesn't she grab Callum and go home, or is she afraid he won't go with her.

Danielle's not getting anywhere is she and people are even starting to avoid her. I don't blame her feeling the tension and annoyance she does. Even Max isn't coming up with anything. It's all a bit of a stalemate and she needs a breakthrough desperately.
I think of Callum and the way (how*) he was with me earlier (* redundant and awkward)
Thanks for sharing this entertaining read. Debbie

That can be rather annoying to find someone wont talk to you when the mention it one day and then won't mention it when challenged, that can be most frustrating, love this episode Jacob, the international interaction are most interesting, almost like looking at our own lives, well done, blessings Roy

Jacob,
Another fine chapter. I like how you keep the mystery of the place hidden. Poor Danielle, it seem everyone is against her. You always keep your reader hanging on the edge for more.
I did find one error:
Callum and the way (how )he was with me earlier.-I think the (how) isn't supposed to be there.
Great job as Always.

I went back to check this. I was having problems with saving this review. I am curious is that is the issue. I really did like this post and with Danielle would get out of this house. She doesn't have Callum's help any longer, he's been brainwashed. Not at all good. Maybe Max will help her, of course, there's still Sarah.

I'm not sure she is going to feel safe anywhere. I think she is starting to feel there is not one she feels comfortable taking to. I would think she is almost trapped if Collum is willing to leave. You strory always make me anxious to know where they is going.
