Firstly I want to commend you for adhering to the 5-7-5 syllable count format - not an easy thing to do. When writing the traditional haiku you are dealing with the challenge of expressing your thoughts, choosing your words, without seeming constrained or stilted. You do that very well. The poem flows well and is relatable. Well done.

I love the idea of this piece, a home definitely reflects who we are as a person and what we like. It's what makes the homes we live in so special to us. A well written piece, I enjoyed reading it.

Hi Jacob,
Thanks for reading my tiny poem. Your concise review was beneficial as it's always good to hear what other authors think of your work, not matter how many words you've written ... three or five thousand words. :-)
Always,

Comment from karenina
Very true!
We are what we collect? Lucky thing I'm not a hoarder.... I could be if I purchased all the books I wanted to!
Do you think people who have passed leave their "imprint" on a home?
I do!

This is a cute presentation. I think it is an interesting thought contained in a short, short form. I must say, your color choice in presentation is making me want to go look for some dark chocolate. Thanks for sharing!

Hi ChristiCookie,
Hahaha! Chocolate to the rescue works every time. Chocolate raises endorphins and neurotransmitters to produce serotonin and dopamine.

An interesting take on what a home means. We do surround ourselves with things we love and of course the people who mean everything to us. It's where the heart is. :)

Hi Boogie Nights,
I feel the same, our heart makes a house a home.
Thank you for an interesting review. It's always beneficial to see what other authors see in your work.
Thank you,

Hi Senyai
This is good poem for Halloween. And it is true that a home does show the personality of its owner. My question is. Can ghosts drink coffee?
Good luck in the contest.
Keep writing and stay healthy
Hope you're having a great weekend.

Hi Joan,
Yes! Ghosts can drink coffee, for sure. But not RED BULLS... you do not want to meet a ghost who has downed a Red Bull ... :-)
Thank you for an entertaining review,

You're welcome, Senyai. After seeing what energy drinks to do people, I wouldn't want to see what they do to ghosts.

Love your words
Every year I become more attached to my abode. Your words are so true,a home does reflect the character of the inhabitants. Excellent 5-7-5 form.

I like that! The inahabitants in the picture look nice and cosy. I wouldn't mind being cosied up in that room. Well done, this is a lovely, warm 5-7-5 contest entry. Good luck! :)) Sandra xx

So, you're saying because I'm a minimalist in my decorating style that somehow makes me lacking in emotional depth? You're saying, that because I choose not to clutter, I don't have warm emotions or can't show love? You're impugning my character simply because my trappings are not the same as yours? You do know I'm kidding, right? I live by the old adage, "Never judge a book by its cover." I love the little ghost by the fireplace. That's a really fun post. Good job.

Hi Eean B,
I read your post with an ever sinking heart line by line...
until the end and then relief blew all my sadness away when you confessed you were kidding. Hahaha!
...but I must say you brought up some valid points. I do have to know if you are truly a minimalist without an ounce of clutter.
All the best :-)
