Yes, that's when you met your husband! I am glad you saw that movie and were glowing with self confidence that caught Evan's eye!
I am horrified that your neighbor would strip your grandmother's roses like that. Such inconsideration!
I like the banquet idea much more than today's lavish proms. I never went to proms. I was really not into big parties.

Thank you, Helen. Yes, I keep writing about the same things but some days they come out a little different. I never told about my grandma's roses before. To me that was a sad story.

Thank you, Yvette. I always said I would be willing to do it all again but I have to be young and energetic. I appreciate the review.

Very nice. So nicely written, in fact, I got lost in the story and forgot that I was supposed to be reviewing the writing. Guess that means it was great writing!
Really sad about Grandma's roses.
Best wishes.

Thank you for sharing this story with us. I was shocked at them cutting your gradma's roses. That was horrible. I do enjoy reading these memoirs.
Each year the roses made the old house look beautiful and their scent was amazing. (the 'eau' in beautiful is in blue font???)
It's for the best. Beth might have gotten stung," (stung.")
She was also the one who sold Mom her outdated clothes for my sophomore wardrove. (wardrobe????)
My best friend and cousin Joy, and I spent (cousin, Joy)
n early August just before the beginning of my senior year. Joy's family left on a family vacation and Dave went back to Texas. (year, Joy)
It might have ended there, but It didn't. (it didn't)

The teenage years are filled with angst and yearning and future hopes and worries. Throw in hormones, and It's a wonder so many of us survive. Good writing. Karen

I enjoy your stories, perhaps particularly because of the cultural differences between the schooling systems. I was shocked at that neighbour girl taking all your grandmother's roses. How very arrogant and insensitive she was, and leaving your poor grandmother in tears. Her brother likewise who assumed he could do whatever he liked with you! Not a nice family. Well written!

Thank you, Wendy I glad you are enjoying my stories. Yes some people are quite pushy. I don't allow people to do that. Neighbor need to be put in their place if they are rude and arrogant

So you are leaving us on the edge of our seats wondering about the mysterious boy.. guess he might be your husband...but I've been known to be wrong. As usual, a great telling of your childhood and life.

Thank you, Carol. I didn't know myself. It took a while to realize he would be the one.

Can't wit to read what happens because it is sounding very romantic. Right now I am just livid at that pathetic girl making your grandmother cry. That took a lot of nerve and I'm sorry your grandmother felt obligated to do as she said.

Thank you for sharing another chapter here, Beth, in which those school years continue to hold vivid memories of social occasions and the lure of romance. An enjoyable read with your husband-to-be making a modest appearance:) Take care Debbie

Happy Thanksgiving! This was a real nice treat for this day. You always manage to write a story about your youth that truly captures the reader. Can't wait to read more of that "stranger". Wish I had six!
