This was very funny! I can relate - my mother and I get into arguments about the dishwasher constantly. I am no good at it, either. You told the story well and with humor. I especially liked the part about organizing the books. Thanks for sharing, and best wishes to you.

Yes, loading dishwashers is a subject on contention, though my beautiful bride and I do not argue. (I'm just better at bit -I can get everything in there where they can be cleaned, every time)
But when the D/W directions say pre-washing is unnecessary.....

A six for making me laugh. I follow your line of reasoning when it comes to loading the dishwasher. But, like your husband, I arrange books according to height! As for clothes, I tried to color coordinate, but ended up just separating according to winter and summer (the only two seasons in Florida)

Thank you for the reading and for the nice comments. We worked well together for a lot of years. He did use a lot more dishes thatn I did and saw no need for prewashing but he was far more organized than I was.

I guess prewashing isn't needed but I still do. I remember a male co-worker decades ago lecturing me about not prewashing! Lol.

IF food is baked on or stuck, prewashing is necessary.

Yes and if it's the non-stick type of pan, I found boiling water with a drop of dishsoap plus baking soda really works.

This is definitely a humorous story. In my household only I load the dishwasher. Every dishwasher we've ever owned broke. Why, I don't know. We've had two fixed, over the years. The new one we have now stopped working after two years. I put dishes in, and the machine does nothing. It's just the two of us, so I hand wash dishes and use the dishwasher for storage.
I laughed aloud when you said books were arranged by height. You were fortunate your husband wanted to do things around the house. Thanks for sharing this amusing story.

Well done. We never had any other kind of dishwasher, here, just the totally manual kind. These days carers some to help us so they do the dishes. Some from countries that are short on water, so they don't fill the sink, just wash and rinse under the tap.
