Your writing is keeping me busy, but in a good way. Everything you say rings so true to me. It's not easy for me to put myself out there and allow people to really know me. I think part of that has to do with the fact that I don't really know me, but I'm working on that. This whole poem, thoughts and picture flow together beautifully and make for very good read. More thoughts for me to ponder.

dejohnsrld,
This is really a unique poem - well composed and
it conveys your message so profoundly. I enjoyed
reading it and found each section to hold the
steps and timidity that we all sometimes feel.
These lines seemed to stand out to me:
"Rose bud
You are valued
Unlock your petals
Reveal the beauty within"
Great way to end your poem,
Linda

I like the metaphor of the rose bud. It so perfectly describes the cycles of life and the emotions that are held inside. I like the format. It's simple and delicate just like the flower you write about. I especially like the last two lines, 'unlock your petals Reveal the beauty within.' ann

Rose bud as a metaphor for a young woman who is starting her social life perhaps. Good poem I really liked it. The poem can be translated as a physical or emotional opening of a young girl's mind/body.

This is very unique and a lovely poem! I enjoyed how you wove the imagery of the folded flower with thoughts of a person being inside a shell. This gives a sense of peace and comfort, when you say:
No reason not
To spread your petals
Enjoy life
...I like how your words seem to gently coax someone's spirit out of hiding.

Reveal the beauty within ... sighhhhh. Now there's a statement with such poetic meaning. Love your repeated use of the words "rose bud'. Kinda keeps the reader knowing exactly what is being talked about. Just lovely, you!!!

It makes me think of someone who has gone through some trauma or perhaps depression and is responding positively to loving encouragement from either a loved one or perhaps a psychologist. I love the metaphor of the rose for being withdrawn. Lovely.
