AnnieDawn, enjoyed this poem, thank you! The third stanza is probably my favorite. "The whole night long I heard it howl". I enjoyed your work and the art went well with it. I can see why you got recognized. Thanks for sharing.

This is wonderful, a poem that took me through the journey of a storm brewing, the storm raging, and then the storm dissipating. I love the imagery you created in your well chosen words. It is clear why your poem won the contest, it is stunning.
Bless you
John

Congrats on your well deserved win. The narrative for a storm rising, striking and finally receding has been excellent. It has lastly ended leaving the mind 'quiet' - the word that triggered your imagination

A lot of my poetry comes from my life experiences. Somehow they trigger something inside and the storm we just had was responsible for this one too. I am happy that you like the poem and I thank you for your review. Thanks again.

The poem makes me think back to my childhood days and wishing with all my heart that the storm would pass. I like the rhythm of the poem, except that I think the last line of the first stanza needs another syllable to make it flow better.

A vivid and enlightening description of a storm brewing , raging and ultimately blowing itself out -akin to a beautiful concerto ending with a sense of 'peace and quiet '.

Thank you for your warm comments and kind review. I am happy that you liked my poem. I did have fun writing it as the storm we had was a big one with a lot of damage done.

Hi Anniedawn
A lovely entry for the contest. Perfect rhyme and rhythm with the build from gentle breeze to raging storm. As much as I enjoy a good storm, I also have hidden under the bedcovers at the ferocity of thunder and lightning crashing just above my roof. This was a common occurrence in my last home in the country. An abundance of assonance and consonance which provided the 'sound' effects to your excellent show of nature. Congratulations, a well earned win. A very neat 'tuck in' of the final word for the prompt requirement. Warm Regards - Lovinia xoxo

I see you won the contest. Congratulations!! A shame about the damage ... we've had quite a few like that lately, though my area has been let off lightly. Well this time, the storm brought you good luck. :)) Hugs - Lovi xoxo

I loved this poem as it took me through the journey of a storm brewing, raging, and then finally abating. I could almost hear the wind and rain howling. I equally enjoyed the sense of calm of a new, sunny morning where peace and quiet replaced the wild wind. I can see why you won the contest. The picture is an exquisite choice for your delightful poem.

A good poem, based on an actual event, in good abcb form. You describe the storm vividly then in the end you fulfil the demands of the prompt by telling us of the peace and quiet tht followed the storm. Good luck in the contest. Warm regards Dorothy x

I thank you for your kind review and I am happy that you enjoyed my poem. It was written after the wild storm that we just had here in Washington State.
