What a beautiful sequel choice....and lovely composition at that! ;) You just can't get and better than Bogey and Bacall...sequel or original!! ;) ;) Thank you for sharing and good luck in the contest! :)

" Mellow memories".... absolutely. Nice tribute to a famous classic movie.
Did you know that the movie Casablanca had 7 entries in the Top 100 movie quotes of all time? More than any other movie ever made. Also, the phrase "Play it again, Sam" was never ever spoken at any time in the movie. Ilsa (Ingrid Bergman) asks the piano player, Sam to "Play it once, Sam. For old times' sake." Then she repeats the request "Play it, Sam".
Later Rick (Humphrey Bogart) says " You played it for her, now play it for me".
One further piece of trivia. I hope you're a Bogart fan, because you'll get a kick out of this. The boat "African Queen" from the movie of the same name was built in London in 1912. It now resides in Florida where it's used as a tourist boat on the canals on one of the Florida Keys. Which one you ask?
Why Key Largo of course!

GREAT review. I love the history of this and was very interested to find out these tidbits. It?s one of my faves too. I went to YouTube and watched clips and realized we now live in a totally different cultural climate. Thanks so much for your response. I enjoyed it, Bill.

How do I know about the African Queen? I visited it in 2014 when I was in Key Largo on my way to Key West on vacation.

-Good choice of artwork.
-I like your original poem.
-I really like your sequel.
-The syllable count is good,
and it is creative.
-I like how you go forward
from the movie, with Rick in the
plane, his heart shattered,
as "Sam plays it again"
-Good luck in the contest.

Excellent poetic imagery. The words sent the message loud and clear with no ambiguity. I don't know that I have sat through an entire Casa Blanca viewing.
I have heard that, "Play it again Sam," was never said in the movie. I have tried to pay attention, but I still don't know if Bogart or Bergman said those words. Sam did play that song in the final scene, and Rick was getting rid of the evidence that fingered him as anti-NAZI/Vichy.
