Oh the pangs of love lost. The ending of this dribble surprising and sad. I counted fifty words as according to contest rules. Nice use of descriptive words. I really liked the "negative equity." Great job!

John peered through the cafe window. No mistaking Cathy's shapely silhouette. Negative equity ended their five-( )year idyll.

You have an extra space here at 'five- year'

Corrected, it would read:
