Your poem is a great entry for the contest. Very eye-appealing; love the title; excellent rhyme; includes a message; and 'weight' and 'wait' were clever. So much creativity in this 1-6-1 poem.
Awesome job!

Ha ha ha, this made me laugh, this poor fella has to carry his house wherever he goes! Imagine that! But there again, he needs no one else to survive. If you gained any weight here, you would outgrow your house! Love Dolly x

Thanks, Dolly. I have always felt so sorry for turtles. They have such an awkward life.
Comment from Sandra du Plessis
A very well-written 1-6-1 poem about the turtle that seems too big for his house on his back. This fellow definitely doesn't go hungry and have no restrictions in his diet.

Thank you, Sandra. I feel so sorry for turtles. They seem to have too much to bear.

Thank you, Yvette. It's no wonder the tortoise is painfully slow.
Comment from Iza Deleanu
Wow short and sweet, and the image completes very well the writing prompt - "Weight,
they say, can shape your gait . . .
WAIT!" Thank you for sharing and good luck with the contest.

Thank you, Iza. The poor turtle has so much to bear in life. I've always thought so.
Comment from Susan Larson
This is hilarious and weightier than it might look. I love the look on the turtle's face. Or is it a tortoise? It's like he doesn't like what he is hearing about his weight. And being annoyed that anyone should be annoyed waiting for him. And thinking, "Wait, I can't help it!"

This is not an easy contest, but you did a terrific job.
You have the correct rhyming. This is a humorous poem.
Good luck with the contest and hope to read more of your poems.

-Good image and
presentation.
-You have met the
prompt requirements
very well with syllables and rhyme.
-The description in the
middle is good, too.
-I like how you use
the font to emphasize your
point in the last line.
-Good luck in the contest.

Thank you, Pam. Changing fonts is not my style. I thought that I would try it. I'm glad that you mentioned that you liked it.

You are welcome. Sometimes trying something different can work out, and it adds interest.

Thank you, Nowhereman. That poor turtle is going nowhere as well.

This 1-6-1, His Freight Never Abates, has the proper set up and finds the self-contained turtle pensive but prepared to join the race. He'll be slow, but sure.
