This piece on the soul, Soulful at Birth, meets the word count and suggests that it's the soul that drives us and marches on through life with us until it takes its pack off and leaves for greener pastures.

Bill such a true reflection on the words. Thank you!
Comment from Lobber
I like the energy conveyed in the poem as it travels from cosmic visions to a world filled with love and mirth ... especially like the alliteration of )depth deeply driven( -- all this embedded at birth.
amazing!

Hi Friend, hows the patio poetry along? Thanks for the six-star validation, J-

Your very interesting poem invites some questions. Who is this thirsty, mirthful person with cosmic vision, gifted at birth with a "depth deeply driven?" It probably can't be me, because I can't recall being told I got a burst of selfhood, or the other gifts, but babies don't remember much, so maybe it could be me, but how did you know about all this, anyway? :)

Don, I can't tell you I rad this ia book, saw it on documentary, heard it a church sermon, this sense of soulfulness comes from a deep sense of inexplainable knowing.

Dealing with apparently non-threatening mystery ailments is disconcerting. I have some, too.

I love your words "every being upon arrival into this plane, we call earth, is born with a uniquely assigned burst of selfhood mixed with a cosmic vision;" and the multidimensionality it presents to the reader. Very thought provoking.

I thought this was an excellent entry for the contest. I think what you describe well in this piece is what it means to be human. I thought it was really well written and I enjoyed reading it. Good luck in the contest!

We are all born with a thirst, a purpose - and we are expected to find this talent, this gift, and be a light. Many never fulfill our soul's purpose... and others soar with it. A poem to reflect upon...

Margaret, thank you all souls have some predetermined destiny, sadly some never arrive at theirs.
-
hmmm predetermined destiny. If that rules out free will then I don't believe in that. We are all given certain gifts... yes.

This is a beautiful poem that features amazing art work. You have met the criteria of the contest concisely and poetically. "The first whisper of breath..." is such a gentle concept of the beginning of life. Good luck in the contest.

That was really good! I liked how you began with that very first breath we take on entering this world. Each of us being unique, and having compassion and a passion. It's a shame that it goes so wrong for some, and spills out in violent waves. I prefer being on the side of love. Your poem is so stirring, it makes the reader feel as if we count. And I like that! Well done and good luck in the contest. :) Sandra xx

Sandra I am so right there with the being on the side of love in all things and all people, I have made it a goal for my remaining days to see God in each and everything and everyone. Which, of course, can be challenging at times.
-
Yes it can, but you have chosen the best road to achieve that lovely goal in you life. xx

I agree with each word you stated. The God who created the very first pair of humans who would inhabit the earth, takes note of each birth that has occurred since then. How saddened he must be when some among his creation take it upon themselves to decide that some among us should be slaughtered like sub human animals, not worthy of life. No man owns his own life, so how will he pay back to God, the creator of life, the life he so cavalierly took.

Nomi, these words yourscribe are noteworthy and most timely. I know I am one who would never wish to meet God at the crosssroads of eternity and have to explain myself for this ungodly act.
