Awesome poem. I really liked it. Your message is powerful and it can strike the home of any person who has family in war or even a parent who worries of their child. The only thing I would change about this work has nothing to do with how it is written. I would change the font. Or maybe the choice of colors because it can be a little troubling to read.

As General Douglas MacArthur poignantly said, "Only the dead have seen the end to war." Sad to say, mankind will somehow manage to always fall victim to events ignored.

I love your poems and your storytelling. Very emotive.

Repeating history. I have changed my mind about that and actually view it that justice will always try to prevail, though at a cost, sometimes with blood. I think that cost depends on our vigilance. Such is the attitude of many that served, as they are willing to bear that cost.

Well written, and I especially like your last line, which is not only the best, but something that we must not only be reminded about, but willing to pay the cost on a personal level in everyday life.

A great poem, deepwater. It has a powerful message without being preachy. Many people forget those who died in struggle to keep us free and safe. History has an unfortunate way of repeating itself and hopefully my generation can prevent that. Well done.

You honour the entire fallen soldier, the first line was simply a wonderful message, I loved the visual image and language used throughout the entire piece. A Great free flowing poem, a very powerful and meaningful, a beautiful tribute to our veterans. May those we have lost, rest in peace and those who remain, may they find peace. Let's pray we learn from the world loss, very creative and beautifully written, in my opinion a master piece well done, take care,D.

You start from a point of great strength in this poem, as you refer to the price a soldier can give. The questions are interesting to ponder over, but the last line is dreadfully prophetic.

Quite good this is though in couple places it reads more like a prose poem or very good prose than legitimate poetry, but the work you tried to do here shows clearly throughout this piece.

I think you did fine, nut not outstanding, but at times I can be tough when judging poetry.

Keep it up; you have something going here.

The best to you!

Luis

You continue to present the reader with deep thoughts and questions... messages that we can ponder and reflect upon as we enjoy the poem. Great work.

Definitely words to contemplate,
words that resonate. Your poem
illicts emotions that live
deep within, while your questions
linger fresh on the mind. Who will
tell the stories, who will tell the
truth--poems like yours are the hope.
Thanks for sharing with us. Lora

Howdy. I usually read your posting, but until now, have not commented. I glad you used this form for this particular verse. I write alot of free verse narrative because I feel it allows me more freedom.
You may be inteterested in reading a few of mine words--
"My Last Farewell," "Spirit of Our Nation's Heritage," "God, He Was Only Seventeen," & "The Red Sand."

Good write,
Boberto
