Stark and strong imagery within these well written lines, describing war and the men who fought so bravely.
Your art accentuates the reality.
Excellent.

I have no refrence for these types of poetry other than a sympathetic ear... I hate that war brings such terrifying thoughts. I am just glad somehow they bring works of art as well and provoking thoughts to share- Blessings, Di

These kinds of poems and stories just make me wanna cry. Life is so short and we spend it, waste it, fighting over nothing. Excellent poem. If its for a contest good luck!

This is a haunting and humbling poem as we read of those who fought to give us freedom.
Excellent rhymes and good use of alliteration in faith of our fathers, pride/pray, sight/sound, brothers beside and which is waiting.
A perfect picture to accompany this well written poem from the perspective of a young solider.

deepwater: are these really the thoughts of those boys in the trenches of WWI? I often wonder since my grandfather was so closed mouth about his war experience. I believe that you have to be there to ever know what stumbles through a young person's mind while they are on the battle field. Tis a mystery. Good writing. livelylinda

This poem reminds the reader of how different wars were. The en mass assault in an open field with unreliable communications and over zealous moral views. The black and white photos are universally accepted as indications of the lonely and distant past.

Very interesting. I like the first person narration of a soldier wondering if this be the day when he will fall like so many before him.

"We get the call; we make the move, as young lions run with pride"

That is my favorite line of your beautifully written poem. It is filled with compassion and emotion and it was lovely.

Very nice job
