Always liked the stories told by Country Western artist..This is no different it tells a story that's for sure.. But the part of gettin down on your knees seems a bit far fetched when you consider that Jacke is your best friend.. You can't have both Think you should elaborate a bit more on that... Maybe in the next one you write Leave the bottle or she is leaving you..No one will put up with that forever and think forever never comes is what the Jack says to you... not your Queen..Just my take on this TK

I'd get down on my bended knees begging her to stay. - This is just a suggestion, so use it or lose it, but I would change knees to knee. I think it flows better, but decision is yours of course.
Again, perfect lyrics for a country song. I found myself singing it in my head, even though I didn't know the melody. I had the mental picture of a guy playing a guitar while I was reading it. Can you tell I like country music? This woman truly is a saint. At least, he does realize that. Well done.

I do not intend to stop writing my little ole Country music lyrics and posting them on this site. I would probably at this point be lynched by a whole lot of people on this site if I did so. Always appreciate your comments and your support. I really do.

Sorry there is only one way I could describe this situation...one of hypocrisy.what else would it be when you are gorging yourself on the bottle and comes home ,seeing her waiting and giving herself to you.
Disgusting.
There are angels, and there is one next to you or she would have left a long time ago.
As for the writing it is beautiful, delirious but goes down quite nicely to the end.

A very compelling poem that shows the point of view of the alcohol abuser, and how much he appreciates the dedication and love of his wife in spite of what he might be putting her through. Wonderful poem of hope for an addict who still struggles with the addiction. Great job, and I see why you are proud of the lyrics. I would love to hear it put to music, Brett.

That's quite a tribute to a relationship. I normally do not review any Christian work but, since you worked so hard on this, I hopped on. You misspelled angels on the last line...John

Hi, Matt...
Great country lyrics -- the booze -- downfall of many a person who can't quite pull themselves out of the pit.
You should record the musical version and post it -- that would be super.
Good luck in the contest.
Cheers & Blessings

I find it strange that a poem about a drunk who is screwing up a woman's life is so dear to you.
In my opinion, it is almost as bad as beating her. In fact it is a constant mental beating and my ardent advice to any woman in that situation is ... Dump the posterior orifice.
But as poetic talent goes, the effort shows some.

The meaning of this poem that you missed is that yes he does have a problem with alcohol but he is also beginning to realize how important his wife is to him and how proud he is of her standing by his side through his tribulations. Appreciate your comments very much.

Although I admire the writing, the content disturbs me. Perhaps because I was a facilitator of the substance abuse program at a major federal institution. My feeling is that if a woman stays in a situation like that, she is a martyr.
I do like the rythmn and the repetitive line about 'they say there are no angels'. It strands the poem together.
