Fine work--characters and dialog ring true. Lovely alliterative imagery--purple posies painted prairie!
seeing things come to life from the bottom up [comma] providing the clouds were not too fickle to give us rain.
war between the Indians=between tribes [war WITH the Indians]
hornets nest=>hornet's
hyphenate dove-painted
I recognized [him] from a portrait
held my mouth - if it could had been corralled (spaces surround dash)
Intro--Jane widowed--why did you omit the phrase you had in prior chapters "now remarried"?

This is a great chapter and a joy to read. Jane is indeed a spitfire and full of gumption. This story has grown on me so much that I am wishful that there is more when I come to the end.
