A Roy classic! When those around me grimace at the street people in their tents, I am compelled to say that God made us all out of the same clay. You always bring wise and Biblical thoughts to your poetry. This is just wonderful.

I liked the second stanza best. I liked that image of the shallow sea as a metaphor for the mind, that cannot grasp creation. And the image of the clay that becomes a pot on the wheel. Those colorful images brighten up the poem, while the other two stanzas kind of wax philosophical and are a bit wordy. You bring in and touch on a lot of different points like innocence lost and regained, the struggle to understand spiritual things in the physical world, and the loneliness of the individual in the journey of life. estory

Awesome. While no tool is greater than the who wields it, greater is the result when the tool works in agreement with the one who is using it. God does not need any of us, but when and if he chooses to allow us to assist him, all things work much better when those who love God work hand in hand with him.

Roy, This is a very well written poem in this, what looks like difficult form, to me. You used very good words, great scripture and very interesting imagery. Thank you for sharing. May God bless you and Elaine today! Teri

An excellent poem in every respect, Roy. I love the way you wove in the Scripture reference to the potter and clay. I particularly like the second stanza, as well as the questions of the final one. Great alliteration, rhyme, and rhythm throughout. Nicely done! Blessings. Carol

Fantastic writing my dear friend :) As always your words bring meaning to life. This is my favorite part:
This maze, my mind, this shallow sea,
will never know how grows a tree.
This, yet I know it matters not
how clay becomes a living pot.
How can we know if faith endures,
and measure ills that trusting cures?
...But many sceptics it still lures.
You continue to amaze me with your imagination. I've tried to write poetry, but I just don't have the craft. Your work is beautiful.

Always your fan,
Shana :)

I agree. Each of us is unique and all should celebrate that fact. God made us the way He intended, and we should believe in Him and follow His teachings. You did a great job, Roy, with your informative poem. There's good flow and rhymes and a great message for everyone. Thanks for the notes, too.
Respectfully, Jan

The clay pot cannot question the Creator as to why it was made. But as humans in the hands of our Creator, what choices we make in life can determine whether we are a vessel for good or for evil. And we are all unique and precious in His eyes.
