Lee does need to see a doctor. Dawn isn't a very nice person. I'm not sure I like her at all. I keep thinking maybe circumstances have forced her to be that way. Maybe there's a nice person under all of that. I really like this story.

Yes, Dawn is mean and selfish. Lee is stubborn and in serious denial regarding trauma. However, the story ends on a ........ well, I guess you'll have to follow it to the end. I hope you do. Yard.

Many veterans, myself included are sometimes tormented by acts they committed while in service. In places like Vietnam, Okinawa, etc. The American serviceman is freer than he will ever be anywhere else in the entire world. Many of us fathered children that we gave no thought to. Years later as our memories start to congeal and remind us of our thoughtless actions as teenagers with too much freedom and we begin to feel a measure of remorse. We would like to do something, but most of us lack the resources to do anything but think about it and feel sad.

Yes sir, young and foolish in a war zone. The guilt can be overwhelming at times yet, there is relief at the foot of the cross.

Poor Lee is still disturbed by the fact that he might have fathered a child in Vietnam, and only by an act of fate that he didn't bring her to the US. of course one has to feel sorry for Dawn, who doesn't really deserve Lee's insecure and a bit of an emotional wreck, but anybody can pull themselves together, but his emotions won't allow him. Beautifully written my friend, great post. Blessings Roy

This is a well written piece about a married couple, Lee and Dawn whose relationship has been adversely impacted by Lee's service in Viet Nam. Lee says he wants to return to Viet Nam because he thinks he may have fathered a child there. Dawn is angry with him for saying such a thing, but she is also very worried about him because his behavior seems erratic and he looks extremely unwell. The chapter closes with Dawn shouting at Lee "to get in the Goddam car." cheers Cass

Wow! What an intense read.

So many people 'wanting' to care... Not knowing what to do and knowing that what they are doing is not enough.

Knowing the truth... and not wanting to face it...

Seeking a new life, but knowing just running from the past will not get you there...

What great themes you have going in this story!

The converstions were veru realistic!

Enjoyed!
