Where are the possibilities of technology taking us?
Anybody

You made me smile from all the various things I can pretend to be. I could make believe I am a great poet which I know will never happen
Why pretend, be happy what your are Or put your food down to what you really want to.

You achieved your objective of making this reader think. I was nodding my head and thinking similar thoughts - that the internet is making people into shadowless fakers and scammers, with disembodied faces and voices carrying out thoughtless actions. Who really is that person in the mirror??

Your litany of people and actions crosses all aspects of reality and fantasy (although I'd hate to do my own tattoo!)

Correction:
A child progedy, (should be spelled 'prodigy')

This post does cause people to think. I believe all this technology isn't good. I think it takes the human part of us away and that's not a good thing. Thank you for sharing.

Thanks for the excellent review and your perspective on the poem. Technology is taking people away from themselves, not towards them. That is a big premise of this piece. Glad to get people thinking. estory

It is certain true when writing we can become whatever character we choose to portray, but out own character usually comes through as well.
On the internet on sites where scammers pretend to be who they are not and on dating sites where people try to make themselves more than who they really are, it is sad and even criminal. As to changing yourself from the person you were born to be into a different sex makes me cringe, but I try not to judge them. I think being ourselves it the best policy but always trying to make ourselves into better versions of ourselves isn't a bad idea.

Thanks for the excellent review and your interesting perspective on the piece. In the end, people who become things other than themselves cannot be trusted. That is a big part of the premise of this piece. estory

I loved the last two lines: Anybody walking around,
Trying to lose their shadow. This gets your point across perfectly. I loved the rhythm of the poem and the detailed examples. A very unique poem and so well-crafted. Great job.

Thanks for the excellent review and you were the only one who commented on that last line, which was a favorite of mine actually. Interesting. estory

It disturbs me somewhat that my children/children in general seem to spend more time pretending to be someone else (usually as part of some computer game) and less and less try being themselves, or trying to develop themselves. I'm old school, I suppose. This piece of yours neatly sums up a new world that has sprung up around us, of which I don't entirely feel a part. Still, I'm an actor, so I suppose that is in itself an escape from the self, albeit in the name of art! :-) Thank you for sharing. A very enjoyable and thought-provoking read.

Thanks for the excellent review and for sharing your interesting perspective on the piece. I read somewhere that kids today spend about 7 minutes playing outside in the fresh air and 7 hours fooling around with computer games, laptops and cell phones. Not healthy. estory

This is definitely food for thought. I think technology has it's benefits for sure, but social media has created a monster, causing too much uncertainty about who we are and what we believe. Thanks for presenting this to us. Well done.

Thanks for the excellent review and for your interesting perspective on the piece. I think Facebook should be closed up. Twitter and TikTok too. They are just sinister mediums for compiling information on people and selling it to marketers. They are spreaders of rumors and gossip and platforms for fascillitating crimes. estory

Good Poem, great ideas and observations. The problem that most people don't recognize when they hear you can be anything you want to be, is that opens the door for them to try to be something they're not. The only thing anybody should be is themselves, but that's just my stupid way of thinking, we all have our methods. lol anyway enough rambling, good job and have a great day!

Thanks for the excellent review and I think you got exactly what I was trying to get across here. Technology can take us away from ourselves. Its a dangerous game. estory

I like your line:
You can be Leonardo di Caprio in the morning,
And in the evening, Sophia Loren.
I like the satiric tone of the poem. Yes, we will all hide behind our avatars and be anything we want except for ourselves. Like I have never seen your face or know your name so you are an avatar to me.

Well done.

Thanks for the excellent review and it is interesting to me that you picked out those lines. Someone else mentioned the closing lines of the poem. But I got people thinking, and that's what I like to do. estory
