LOL, This is a great story. You should have entered it into one of the nonfiction contests. I just thought I knew exactly where this story was going, but like you, I was surprised. Excellent job. Terry.

That is a good memory to have, mom. :) You would have made a great one, Jenny. There is so much love in you, sometimes I can feel it when you talk about Lily. I happy to know you even if it's on FanStory. Thank you for sharing.

It is simply a delightful story that I could see anyone would get the wrong idea when anyone is out all night.
The reason for her all-night "roll in the hay" made it a fun read and showed she was a smart and caring girl.
Best wishes,
Mary

LM,
That is awesome. I love it! I'm afraid I might have expected the worst, too. But could we be blamed for that? YIKES. Those farm boys - we hear about them, right? hahaha
The ending was so much better and it turns out this really was an intelligent and wise girl. I bet she's doing fine now. hahaha
(no 6s, sorry!)

What a delightful turn of events! I love the ironies in this story. Why do we "moms" always think the worst? Usually we are right though. And, I love the hay in Rosemary's hair. No time for a roll in the hay this time.
I do love the ending. What a smart girl.

A delightful story any mother (or father) of a daughter can relate to. I especially enjoyed the ending because I am currently reading James Herriott's classic ALL CREATURES LARGE AND SMALL about his experiences of being a vet in rural England during the 1930s when he was often called out in the middle of the night to deliver calves. "stayed the night" - perhaps "spent the night"?
I just loved this true story. You should have entered it in a contest because it's brilliant writing on an engaging subject. Not to mention the nuanced undertones of "Rosemary's Baby" that add contrasting depth to the story ( or it could just be the way my mind works)..
I saw somewhere that human minds are over 90% geared to negativity because it's a survival trait to be watchful and suspicious. So your concern was natural. Glad this tale had a happy ending.
Stay safe and blessed

What an interesting story, yes, a couple of "kids" a nice boy from our was homeless after being "thrown" out by his stepmother, he was couch surfing, I took him in until he was a qualified teacher, he acquired a job at the local Christian school attached to our church, he's now deputy principal, married with two children, he came when he was 17, then we took in a young girl, same circumstances, she's a social worker a fine mum and wife. I treated them the same as my own, it's satisfying to be able to sow into other lives, well done with this kid. Beautifully written blessings, Roy

It's funny how our preconceived (no pun intended) notions of other people, and the world around us lead us to assume we can predict the actions of others. We may do so often with the best of intentions, but it is still a mark of our own hubris. Perhaps Rosemary's lesson wasn't the only one learned that night.
Peace, Lee
