This is a very good chapter to your book about you being Scottish. That is amazing to find out later in life about our ancestors. You used great descriptive words and I love to hear Amazing Grace played on the bagpipe too. Thank you for sharing with us! love and blessings, teri

My ancestry is evenly split, 49% Welsh, my paternal grandfather was a Welsh speaking 'Taffy' (Owen is very Welsh) and 49% Anglo-Saxon. My my mother's maiden name Harbord can be traced to Jutland, and 1% North African, go go figure, my birthplace Liverpool, was the busiest seaport in the world at one stage, beautifully written Yvonne, blessings Roy

You did an excellent job with you interesting and informative
post, Yvonne. I enjoyed everything about it from the intro to
the conclusion. You gave readers some great facts about the
actual place to those of yourself and family. I loved learning
about your heritage. It was evident you researched it well. Your
family goes way back, and your present-day family is carrying on
the traditions from your ancestors. Nessie would be proud. The
inherited aspect of prior knowledge was awesome to learn from
one here today than could speak about the past with supporting
details. I know your book will be filled with great and interesting
info.
Thanks for sharing, Jan

I love your Scottish history. In theory, I have some as well. I was never tested and now I am the last one standing as my mother, father, and younger brother have passed. May I will be tested. I have no kids, but at least I will be interested.
What hair is left use to be red, so, there is Irish. Thank you for writing this, I look forward to other ones. Terry.

I enjoy personal stories more than fiction and I'm glad you've decided to share. My DNA has me a mixture many things on the other side of the pond. However Ancestry changes the percentages of what they say makes up my DNA every few months. Right now they have me 38% Scottish and 8% Welsh and mostly English with Swedish, Danish and Northwest Europe. My Irish comes and goes. LOL I too like rainy weather. I actually enjoy stormy weather, which is strange because I've been blown around by two tornadoes. I found you comment about inherited knowledge interesting. I'ill check that out. I really love this. I hope you post more soon.

Hi Yvonne, this story was just enchanting. I loved it, and no you are not odd. I do think that where a person's geographic roots come from influences their DNA. Of special note:
the sound of bagpipes brings tears to my eyes.
(Y, why not? The sound of bagpipes is beautiful, and real beauty does bring a tear to a person's eye.)
I think that you are a fine Scotswoman. Well done. Thank you for sharing, and keep the blue waters flowing. Xo. M

I thought this piece was awesome. I love that you wrote about the memory of your genes. I think everyone had this. But few are in tune with it. I was always told I had German roots, which I do. But I've had a secret kinship to the Irish. Well, after researching, found out my German forefathers and mothers were planted in Ireland for hundreds of years. It was an ah ha moment at the very least. Thank you for posting this. I found it very interesting. Gretchen

You might be able to get a phone ring tone for Flower of Scotland. That 's the one they sing at the rugby matches. Yesterday the Scots beat us Welsh on the rugby field and last weekend the beat England so your lot are doing pretty well.
