Because Easter was originally a pagan festival, worshiping the spring equinox, and a fertility goddess, it's unlikely the egg can be exalted as "paschal" which means sacrifice, the lamb being representative of Christ, it is also the Jewish Passover. It became a Christian festival when Constantine declared Easter and Christmas as Christian festivals. God has said in Jeremiah not to adopt the festivals of the heathen, and what do we do? Incorporate them anyway, the Jewish feasts are the ones to celebrate, they are eternal, blessings Roy

I had no idea why we had Easter Eggs, but I do now. It's amazing. I've gone through 73 years not knowing anything, but they were fun to color and good to eat. Now a days, people around here hide plastic eggs filled with candy. Especially the church hunts, because they don't won't law suits from salmonella infections. You did a great job. Easter eggs have been known about at least as far back as the 13th Century AD? (period after 'AD')

I believe all Christian holidays are being paganized. Easter is an easy one since it often falls near the spring equinox. The end of winter and fertility are naturals for celebration. Santa Claus made paganizing of Christmas easy. Non-believers can adapt thanksgiving to humanism without qualm. If they could figure out how to capitalize on Pentecost Sunday, they certainly would.
