A poem expressing a passionately held belief which you state powerfully. It is a foundation of reasonable society that every life is precious. There is much evil in this world.

Thanks Tony, it is important to me to get this out as our country starts the election time. It is sad when our own president swears to stop the overturn of Roe vs Wade, but I am finding that many Christian authors are shy at supporting the cause. It breaks my heart to see that. I thank you for your kind comments and for being one who feels the need to follow God?s law and not mans

It is so sad to see innocent children caught up in conflict, caused by politicians who do not really think of them. A well written piece, which definitely has an important message. Good luck in the contest.

I love this verse and wholly support this point of view and can't believe we are even talking about women killing their babies in this country. The rights of the unborn should supersede any selfishness the mother harbors. Well said and good luck.

Melissa. I am seeing that even many Christian?s aren?t speaking out as much anymore so your review was refreshing. Thank you for the kind compassion for the cause.

I loved every word of this well crafted poem written in six aabb rhymed quatrains that flow in lovely iambic tetrameter. The image was spectacular. The theme well reasoned. I to am concerned about the evil our society has unleashed. In fact I published a poetry book titled Precious Flowers: Abortion Afterthoughts. Keep up the good fight defending the unborn and continue to promote adoption. A brave post. Well done!

I understand your perspective on this and there will be many reviewers here who share your sentiments. I have some reservations, such as in cases of incest, rape, serious disability or danger to the health of the mother. There are a couple of spag issues here to fix, including "paY" and "woulld" in the final two stanzas.

Navada, you are so appreciated. That font made my eyes that are already compromised, made it harder to see those typos. So thank you so very much.
Also for the very kind and respectful review and comments. I too, have issues as an incest and a rape survivor, but I have to remind myself that it is not my place to tell God how to do His business, even if I don?t agree. He has a purpose for all children. But I do feel much the same way.

    Thanks again, my friend.

These days it is far too easy for those making decisions to govern situations they will never find themselves in. They enjoy a life they have no problem depriving others to ever have. They do not consider the fact that they live because the one with the power to decide did not decide to terminate their lives. Something we all must consider.

This is a very well written rhyming poem you have penned about little babies and some that are trying to kill them. You used great descriptive words taking a stand for those little ones that can speak for themselves. love and blessings, Teri

Hi Author,
yes, a touchy subject matter, and yet a worthy one to set the cats among the pigeons.

As controversial as this subject is, the image you pose upon the page is hard to deny. Is there circumstances and time frames to ever be considered before termination?

It's hard for me to judge another's decision... me personally though, I could never make such a decision to terminate a life... especially seen as though my wife and I are childless. We would have loved to adopt, but in our time one had to jump through way too many hoops. It was near impossible, unless you wanted to go outside your own country and pay a large amount of money for uncertainty. To buy a child just didn't seem right, we would of happily adopted a child from overseas, but people making money on a child factory.... nah! So, I'm wondering how much easier it would have been to adopt a child here in my own country of Australia, if so many hadn't terminated their pregnancy, instead offering them up to worthwhile couples such as my wife and me?

So yes, indeed, if Baby could vote!

Subject aside, the rhyme is solid, your flow and rhythm solidify your words and poem... and yes, you make valid statements and I applaud your passion on the subject.

I hope that the poem is read and allowed the merit of it construction and composition no matter how one reader to the next may think on the topic matter.

All the very best in this rhyming poem contest Author, I have to agree, they were meant to be on earth before they entered heaven.

With our thoughts we create...
the dream of a happy family.

Kind regards,
James.

Thank you very much, James. First of all, I am so very sorry that your wife and you have remained childless. I have already and will continue to be praying for you both. You and so many in this situation of not being able to have children and not being able to adopt easier is another problem caused by abortion. If Roe vs Wade was actually overturned (like I prayed for years about) the problem with adoption would most likely be solved.

I pray before writing most of the time, and when God gets something in His head, He grabs the reins and won?t let go. I indeed felt it with this one. So even knowing that I will be opposed, (which I have a hard time with) I can?t go against where I feel His pull. I am a strong believer that even if I don?t agree with God, it isn?t my place to tell Him his business. He had a purpose for every child, even from rape or mentally retarded.

Also I was supposed to never have children. I am a DES baby or daughter and had less than one quarter of an Ovary by the time I was fifteen from many surgeries. The news that I would never conceive came from the University of MN and the Mayo Clinic. God let them all know He was in control when He blessed me with three wonderful children.

Yes, this is my passion and if I could protest I would be marching. Besides the obvious of it being wrong to kill a baby, I have some personal issues. My friend who died two years ago would still be here today if her husband hadn?t made her have an abortion. He was abusive and she wasn?t prepared to cross him, as he was influential and she knew he would take their other children from her. She also didn?t realize how living with this would suck every bit of life out of her and eventually kill her. She couldn?t live with what she had done.
And my last is as simple and as innocent as a child?s cry for justice: because the Bible tells me so.

I do want to thank you for the very respectful and kind review and comments.
I appreciate it very much. My best wishes to you in the new year.

This is a well crafted poem, and I do understand your passion and your stance of this subject. Your rhyme scheme is good and your point comes through clearly. I think where you may falter in presenting your POV, is with certain "less than factual lines" that turn, even those who may agree with you off, especially when combined your statement about politicians.

Ex:

What once was a God fearing land ( What land was this? Not America, England or any other land where men roam)

It's not just my opinion here (Actually, it is. Be honest.)

Do those who disagree have fear (projection, and insulting. There are several lines like that. You will never convince anyone with such tactics (very politician-like too))

Hi Lance, I expected this so I did my homework to back myself and yes, America culturally once was a God fearing nation, if not politically.
At one time some decisions even in the government were made on values and morals. When Roe vs Wade was overturned our president swore to fight that. One hundred years ago that would have never happened.

However if you don?t believe in God then of course none of my christian and biblical facts will add up either.

And no it isn?t just my opinion, honestly. Read the reviews, my friend.

Lance, I have nothing but respect for you, but my poem is mostly about my passion and I used a little different way of presenting it, but by being a little creative I felt like it was making a better statement about if babies could vote.
But I don?t think I needed to defend that. After all, isn?t that what a writer does?
And I thank you for giving me your opinion. In fact I kind of expected you.
It doesn?t mean I respect you any less for it.

Lance, if you don?t mind I would like to share one more thing with you, and this is not meant to try to change your way of thinking, as I know we just come from different places.
I have some personal issues. She couldn?t live with the guilt.
I just felt the need to explain the rest of my feelings on the subject.
reply by lancellot on 03-Jan-2024
Understood. Actually, I agree with your position. Killing babies is wrong. I just think the method some are fighting by is more emotional ( or passionate) than logical. (passion is good, but it can also blind us) Which is why that position is losing right now.

By not being God fearing, I meant historically. IE, Slavery, near genocide, conquering, breaking treaties, lying, stealing, bringing entire species to extinction, oppression of poor, women, minorities etc...

That's part of what I meant by political speech. Politicians include only the parts that bolster their position and keep silent on the rest.

PS: I can't read the reviews, this is blind. But, we all know about FS reviews. Have a great a New Year.

This is such a difficult topic with so many variables. One thing is for certain, the unborn baby had nothing to do with the situation he/she has found themselves in.
How can lawmakers decide its fate?
God must intervene!

I did enjoy your post.
