Oh dear... one's conscience or perhaps one's memories play a huge part in a writers words... which is so good.
Makes one's words even more important...

Spain, what a great spot for a holiday. Just one question, if you're in such a great tourist venue, why are you wasting your time reading crappy poetry on Fanstory. Seriously, thank you for such a great review. Now get back to the Sangria and the bullfight. By the way, the bull will win.

Actually we moved here three years ago...full time...not planning on going back to the States...
    Everyday is a holiday...
I am an avid poetess and yes, I do spend so much time reviewing... which might be such a huge waste of time... only been on Fan Story for less that a year... not sure if I will continue...one thing that concerns me is that we are not allowed to suggest to anyone that they might like a poem written and sitting in our portfolio...so anyone new to reading your work does not know they can go back into your previous work... this makes me nuts...

    Why Spain, and not Australia?

I really enjoyed your poem. How true those words are. we never know when our time is up. As another birthday comes up, I am thinking about it more. Well written poem. Liked the words you used. Great job

One word of advice, be aware it can happen, but don't dwell on it. Thank you so much for such a good review

Your words you've penned leaves the reader (and the writer) with a lot of food for thought. We often keep putting off today so we promise to do it tomorrow...but what if tomorrow never comes? Don't wait 'till you're dead! Amen!

So much wonderful advice, Bob! I love the echo of that repeated line which drives home all those resolutions we should have. You've poured your heart into this fine verse, or rather your conscience! Well done! Take care Debbie

Debbie, thank you for acknowledging I have a conscience. That's something the dear old Marist Brother's never considered. Their every belief centred around the weapon they called the CANE. And for the most part it worked. Thank you for reading and reviewing.

That preacher gave some good advice. And we can always call on the Lord at any time but best before we "dead" because He can help us live our lives on earth better.

Your reply is spot on. I agree it's far better to be on His side than to be part of the opposition.

Your note is spot on and it's good to recognize that the Spirit hopes to steer our choices to the positive instead of gratification

Is there a third option, do as you like and hope there are no consequences. Sadly, I don't think so. Thanks for such a good review, Tom.

It is funny the key statements we hear that follow us throughout our lives.

I do have a feeling that once you're dead, we may be doing more of the listening to God than the actual talking. Just my two cents.

I believe you're spot on. This though wasn't intended to be a preaching verse, it was intended to be light-hearted. Thanks for the review.

Oh yes indeed, the only thing death does is place you within the path of justice, one way or the other it's the end of idealist ambitions, as the scripture, 'It is appointed to man once to die...and then the judgement.' Beautifully written Bob, blessings Roy

A very in-depth piece that reachers inside the reader. The repeating of the words leaves them rotating in the brain. It's a message and a warning all rolled into one.

It seems your faith has been revived with this timely reminder Bob. It is funny how we become more faithful as we age and get closer to death, a poignant post, love Dolly x x. x

I think it's always been there. The dear old Nuns and the cane-happy Brothers kind of brainwashed us. But I'm quite content believing there's something after death. I think I might be a bit peed off if there's nothing.
