Hi!
I'm kind of thinking I should wait until tomorrow to read and review so I could give you a sixer for this great entry in the Western contest - but I have a lot of reading to do on Sundays.
Thank you for sharing another great piece of writing,
~Mustang~

A larger than life character here in your Western story, but isn't that the right size for Texas. I like the relaxed, story-telling tone of your narrative, and the swift change in tone when it becomes a statement of science and history.

A well expressed western story which zips along at pace with a sad outcome for Paw Packy. The perceived threat of living on the frontier is skilfully conveyed and we get a real sense of the fear the Indians posed. And yet there is a poignancy in the end that they were only seeking to safeguard their decimated tribe and were actually just wanting to lead a peaceful life. I think there is an error in your spelling of Commanche which only has one 'm.' An excellent story which could, perhaps, be padded out and made longer for this contest. Take care Debbie

I was trying so hard to duplicate western-sounding slang from my many westerns in saying their name, I completely neglected the correct spelling! Thank you!

Aw, my friend, I know how you love westerns and take to these naturally. I know you've written several western themed prose and poetry things since you joined.

This is one of the hardest contests on FanStory. I won third place s few years back with "Mail Order Bride Non-refundable." The minimum word requirement for this contest in 2000 words. You are somewhere around 600 by my guestimation. I encourage you to add more to reach the required 2000 if you're able.

Typo: Comanche is misspelled. If you meant it to be, please disregard.

Great video and art too. I sure would like to see this as a qualified entry. You have some time before the contest closes.

Sending you my best today as always.

I realized and went back and changed the s[pelling. Don't know how I did that! I often misinterpret the word count, so I'll recheck and revise if necessary. Thank you!

Both sides were very ferocious in defending their lands at the cost of many lives. What a wonderfully written story. Good luck in the contest!
Have a great day, and God bless.

Misunderstandings that breed hate and causes it to grow have been responsible fore more deaths can be ever accounted for or documented. I realize that fear sometimes acted as a barrier to just sitting down, reaching out and attempting to learn the real truth about each other. Today that is not so much a factor as in the past as people are not normally that vicious or treacherous these days. Problems in the Middle East not withstanding.

I enjoyed reading this Western story Packy is an interesting name. he is a good man but may be misunderstood .But in those days revenge was a big thing I suppose . Shreds of polka dot bandana along with bones tell a sad story..All the best for the contest

This story had me on the edge of my seat - literally. I felt that the descriptive words and phrases used took us back to the time that the story took place. I loved the phrases from "back then". I didn't grow up back then, but I grew up watching Little House and The Walton's and I recognized those phrases.

Stories of an enemy are often a lot more vicious than the reality. You wrote this extremely well. I have no sixes left to give.I can tell you love westerns, I did too. Karen :-)
